I remember at the circuit assembly, held in Janesville, WI, many of the witnesses stayed at the Midway Motor Lodge several miles away. There was a group of MS's from crystal lake who would bring alcohol and leave their hotel door "unlocked" Well, many of the younger JW's( under 18) would go in, get a drink get out and hit the pool. I found it amazing that nobody ever got in trouble from that. I never was a drinker until my parents started to study with the witnesses, all of a sudden all these spiritual / mature individuals were telling me to start drinking ,, heavily. The po's kids, were the worst, they started me drinking, ( 16 yrs old) and we graduated into smoking, then pot. When the pills started to appear I ditched the group, Anyway, everyone from that group is gone, faded or DF'ed . This organization showed me how 2 faced so called "mature" members could be, although I tried doing the whole religion thing according to the rules, I never really could overlook the hypocrite's from the early days.

Issues That Made You ANGRY While You Were A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhen i look back, i think of some things that really angered me about the organization.
i was raised as a witness and i was taught from a very early age that "reaching out" was the most important things i could do in life.
i was to reach out for "privileges" and get baptized.

After reading raindogs comment I thought of this saying : Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no bird sang except those that sang best. I hear what your saying man,, I really do !!!

Raindogs comment of :
1)Being told that the world was going to end so there was no sense in going to college. For years, even after leaving the Borg, I still had issues with getting an education.
I really can connect with this one !
Thats all I heard during and after HS, and for what ????? -

Reasons You Hated Being A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inmy biggest reason: the religion is stupid.
plain and simple.

the ultimate thing that happened was this :
a friend had a dog who was getting really old, so the parents decided to put him down.
The whole situation was really sad, and after the dog was put to sleep, they all came home with the kids
pretty upset.
And the the cong. overseer stopped by and heard the whole story from the parents, and his reply just made me realize
how empty jw's were emotionally.
His reply should have been" oh I'm sorry about your loss",
no it was " well, dogs don't have souls so lets move on and go out in service this afternoon."
I was just devastated that a man of so called spiritual maturity could say something like this to a family.
And the topping was that the parents started to agree with him, like he was absolutly correct!!!
How foolish the family was for letting something like human emotions get in the way.
i believe that the kids were affected in ways nobody could understand.
That is the tipping point when I realized that there is emotionally something missing with these people, -

circuit assembly / what did they say ??
by lancelink inthis afternoon i attended the ca, pioneer / pioneer / pioneer / pioneer, everything else you might need to do in life is not important.
focus on the new system, and making disciples !
and near the end of the session, the district overseer made a quick but noted comment.

wow, thank you for the replies ! One other point that I forgot to mention is this :: Is the society scraping the bottom of the barrel for elders ? There was one part in which the dangers of the internet was brought up. A young girl and her "father" ( an elder by the name of Renfrow, whenever I see him I start hearing the song dueling banjos, he would have fit into the movie Deliverance perfectly.) Anyway, he started talking to her about who she was writing a message to, and he referred to this person as a jerk. maybe I'm a little old fashioned, but years ago when I was part of the Theo. school respect for the audience was a major point. If he was just talking to his daughter alone, this term might have been allowable, but in front of 2000 ++ people,,,, I felt a little shiver of embarrassment run down my back. respectable standards seem to be going down the drain in many different aspects of the society. Am I just being sensitive, or have others noticed this also ???

And near the end of the session, the district overseer made a quick but noted comment. Even though Armageddon may not come in our lifetime, we still need to remain focused on service, and the disciple-making work. What the hell is going on lately ??? Oh, and I was looking around the hall, and nobody was smiling during the entire afternoon session. I thought that "religious activities" were supposed to be uplifting and encouraging to people attending them. What a joke !
