i said hello to him, but all he did was look the other way, he didn't even acknowledge me.
he was reinstated about two months later,, just about the time I began my fade

Reflections on the assembly - please help!!!!
by insearchoftruth ingood morning,.
one of the two district assemblies was this past weekend in hampton va and my wife was very excited to attend, but she only attended about 1.5 hours on friday and then i attended the morning session with her on saturday.
not sure how these number compare with past years, but about 5200 folks were in attendance (by their count) and it appeared that about 20 folks were going to be baptized.. here are couple of my thoughts on what i heard, i kept notes, but they were in my wife's binder, so was unable to grab them this morning.. most of the speakers i heard slammed higher education....and they tried to tie that back to the bible, that was sort of a reach if you ask me...wasn't luke involved with medicine in some way??.

"Few, very few, JWs know that the founder, Russell, believed that God resided in the Pleiades star system."
wow, I never heard that one, I have to research this !
I'm doing an edit here, and here are some facts.

BETTER/WORSE than a worldly person?"
by chuckyy inafter your own personal experiences within the jws, do you conclude that the normal rank and file jw is worse than a person in the "world", better, or no different.
what do you base your conclusions on???.

I hope that I'm sticking with this link, but my daughter just came back from Germany last weekend.
She is in her early 20's and went out there to meet up with some friends she made during college.
She was there for four weeks, and was with worldly people the entire time, (she was raised as a JW.
their college belief/ban really helped push her out.)She was just awestruck with the friendliness of the people over there.
Not once did she attend a meeting, call the hall, or go out in FS.
Yet she had a great memorable visit, how can that be without any JW's around ? -

Wife Angry! Witnesses only call around to "count time" never casual calls??
by Witness 007 inon the weekend 2 sets of witnesses called on us during witnessing {we are both in-active now}....what's going on i thought!!
......c.o visit with a theme of "encouraging those weak in the faith.
" so, witnesses start calling after a year and a half, but only offical like during witnessing time....mistake number two, they "placed" 17 watchtowers with my wife.....mistake three, a sister said she was "concerned" about my wife like she was mental or something!

"with the Mormons perhaps/"
I notice that members of this religion call me whenever something interesting is happening at their church, or homes.
It is quite refreshing to have someone think of me as a person, and not just a way to count time. -

Best JW tall story/variations of it?
by KW13 indont just list one, list them all so we can laugh because in all honesty i can't believe we believed some of them.
for example, i was told annie lennox stopped a concert to ask if there was any jw's in the audience, and if there was could they leave as they were stopping the demons getting through...is this even remotely true?
did annie lennox ask the jw's in the audience to move because they were stopping the snack lady getting through...and it got twisted through chinese whispers.... the other day (i felt sick) one witness was banging on about how amazing it was that the watchtower society's building was the only one standing still...wtf...my stepdad responded with a 'wow thats amazing' and the first brother was like 'yeah i know'...grrrrrrrrr aaaaaaaah screaaaaaaaaam .

In the 70's i heard a story about John Denver.
At a concert he asked if there were any JW's in the audience,
several people raised their hand/stood up and he supposedly had everyone laugh at them because
they did not support the US government/
The Rod Stewart story is vaguely familiar. -

Another trip down memory lane
by lost_light06 inthe boe in my childhood congregation was probably the nicest and most sincere group of elders i have ever come across, at least the boe i grew up with.
i still hold each of them in high regard, they were truly very kind and caring people.
however, apparently before i was born (pre 79) and when i was a small child there was quite a bit of trouble in that cong.

In the early 1980's I attended a hall in southern Illinois that had one elder in particular who thought everything
revolved around his view.
He did not like many of the MS's and he personally appointed sisters to handle congregation responsibilities such as
magazine and literature counters. Sisters and young brothers would be able to handle the microphones.
he did this for several months until a new CO came in and put him in his place. I have not been down there in over 10 years, have no
idea what the current condition is. -

Dog lovers advice please ....
by troubled mind intonight something really scary happened with our dog .. we took him out for a walk along the canal near our home .it has been hot and humid today but we went out in the evening out of direct sun.
we walked a little over a mile and our dog had been panting quite a bit, but nothing real unusual .
as we were heading back he all of the sudden starts pawing at his muzzle then puts his face down and is scraping it in the gravel then just totally spasms .

sounds like a seizure, but several years ago I was walking my dog and she ran across a neighbors yard who had a lawn treatment
service spray earlier in the day.
her face swelled up, had slight tremors, and was sleepy for several hours afterwards. The vet told me to give her some
children's benadryl. It helped with the swelling, not the tremors or sleepiness.
If it is a seizure it would be a good idea to get her checked out, there are drugs that really minimize the effects.
Also if it happens again, make sure that your dog has a place to relax/recover afterwards that is quiet and relaxing. -

Congregation Get-Togethers: In or Out?
by TreadClimberMaster ini was reading redpill2006's post and i noticed that some mentioned that get-togethers or parties have been largely discouraged.
i stopped attending meetings in 2003/2004 and i remember my congregation still had get-togethers, although they were few and far between.
they were not completely discouraged though, has this changed?

"Of course, there were never alcoholic drinks at any JW gathering - especially the smaller ones!!'
i remember that drinking alcohol was mostly practiced at gatherings held at elders homes.
Sterne and Hartwig families as I remember were really into the drinking thing, and the last i heard all their
children are raging alcoholics -

When I got home from work this evening there was an awake in my door.
As I skim thru it, I notice a comment on page 29 under From our readers, "what does the future hold for Christianity."
SS from the U.S. wrote that he/she believes that the jw's just love to tear down other religions, yet
they lift themselves up above the rest,,,, OK, a pretty decent, accurate, observation I thought.
And the reply from the wt is this (quoted word for word!):
JW's are not against people of other religions as individuals, nor do we view ourselves as being better than others.
We recognize that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"(Romans 3:23.)
With that in mind, we expend ourselves and our resources devoting much time to calling at homes to share bible truths, including the wonderful hope the Bible contains.
However, as Jesus and his disciples boldly spoke out to expose hypocrisy and religious error, Jehovah's witnesses do like wise.
Lets consider all the child abuse, wrong calculations for Armageddon, changing doctrines, etc just what are the authors of the
awake thinking about?
And we do not view ourselves as better than others???
I think something is really screwy in bethel.
