I have been wrestling with the idea of DA'ing myself for close to a year now.
But there is a small area in my subconscious that whispers "this is not a good idea.'
I haven't been to a meeting in over six months, no service in seven years. But I feel that in order to be honest with myself
and others I should make a clean break, write a letter, send it to the PO and be done with it.
Another part tells me that by doing this, I will cause alot of grief for the small amount of people (1) in my entire family who even have
a thought of going to the KH. This person is my Dad, he is alone and lives across the country. he basically has a very thin relationship
with the witnesses. I think because they help him out occasionally with driving, lawn mowing, etc. He goes several times a month to the KH.
If I DA, what could it do to him if later he has to move to my area? my parents were pretty involved in the witnesses years ago. Yet now, most of their friends have died, or moved away, only some of the children are grown up and still attend their old hall. There are also several friends(?) that I have who have not spoken to me in over a year.
So,, in conclusion do I do what I need to do and live with any flak later on, or should I remain invisible and just stay inactive?
I have written a very short, direct letter that is slowly burning a hole in my hard drive and soul.
Staying inactive is starting to seem more dishonest to me every day, I feel that I'm trapped in a very deep hole and I have several ways out,
yet I don't know what to do.!?

Strategies for dealing with the borg
by JimmyPage inhaving gone to the last dc i realized how much i love a lot of people within the borg.
but i also realized how much i hate listening to the talks.. i've come up with two or three strategies on how to deal.
one is to take advantage of the borg by going to a foreign language congregation.

Damn it, I remember taking my kids to the back of the hall, or to the basement and trying my best to get them to be quiet
sometimes really spanking them.
Thank god that they turned out to be really nice kids tho.
When one of them was about ten years old, while getting ready for the Thursday night meeting, he did not want to go and my wife
and I got in the usual "do it or else" mode. he turned around and punched a hole in the wall.
From that night on, we really backed off with the authoritative attitudes and allowed them more freedom .
But we sure caught alot of crap from the elders after that, the elders really made us feel like garbage for
backing off on our kids, not creating little borg drones like they expected.
I heard a great little saying yesterday that really made me think about this:
remember the small things of your life today,
because tomorrow they will have become the larger, more important things.
man, if i could go back and redo those years with my kids from a spiritual aspect,, what i would change would be amazing. -

Unexpected JW reaction
by cameo-d ini talked to a jw i know and got an unexpected reaction.. i mentioned some of the "conspiracy theory" stuff i have heard...about one taken, one left behind ...and what i have heard about people will be picked up in the middle of the night and taken away to "places".
this jw took it right in stride and said "yes, that's the way it was done when the nazi's started.
many jws were killed then...blah blah".

I just can't get over the extremes of the mind games here. Paradise one week--nazi torture the next week. This is just too much for me to comprehend. How in the hell did you ever have any peace or joy in between?
i remember always hearing the same answer, "the paradise is coming, focus on the good things to come"
But then I remember hearing someone talk about rats eating people while they slept and the whole paradise thing went out the window.
Man, this really was / is a mind blowing religion. -

How does Jehovah Kill Us Off?
by cameo-d ini figure a lot of people have had their heads stuck in the cloud with images of their paradise---big homes, fancy cars, and all the jewelry left behind by those rich ole wicked people..... but what about the other side of all this?
have you wondered how jehovahjireh jihad kills us all off?
it's time to think about that now.

The Sheer Boring Monotony Of Being A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhat a terrible way of wasting valuable time.
going to meetings is the biggest scam.
you get nothing more from going than you would if you read a publication in the comfort of your home.

thank you for all the comments, i really appreciate them.
Sorry if i sound like I expect some sympathy, that was not my point.
Just how people we knew for years in this organization can turn a blind eye to the whole situation,
it was a real shakeup for me -

Last week my mother died, and since my parents live clear across the country, I had to travel out there and help
my father with the arraignments.
They were active, visible witnesses here at home here in Wisconsin for over 15 years.
I have not attended a meeting for four months now, I have been working on fading away.
Yet my father placed a death notice in the local paper here, because many of their witness friends live here.
Well, it has been a week and only One person has made an effort to call me and let me know how sorry they were.
And yet I wonder,,,, where are all these people that were their so called "friends".
Is this a tactic of the witnesses, that I have to go to the hall in order for anyone to even say something?
I am really beginning to feel that these people are pretty phoney with human emotions, i have to go along with the WT facade
in order for people to somehow act real.?!
Oh and by the way, i was quite active in the hall all these years, I just recently began dropping away because of the hypocrisies I was seeing.
Funny, I thought that certain people were my friends during these years, what a wakeup call this has been to me to hasten my fade.
I keep thinking of that scripture that states " by their fruits will you recognize these men."
