If you feel neglected at the memorial, try taking a nice long swig of the (babylon the) Grape Juice when it comes around.

Why are some atheists so pushy?
by nvrgnbk innvr,.
here is what i have observed about some of the atheists here.
as in the first example from this essay, this is to be expected if atheism is true.

Doomer...BUT they were Atheist ....and they suppressed religion of any kind by killing any and all religious peoples and destroying their temples and churches all because they hated religion.
Nope, wrong again. They did it becuase they were powermad dictators who didn't want any priest coming between them and absolute control. Atheism emerged as a necessary consequence of this. It was not the cause.
However, theism WAS the cause of the Crusades, the Inquisition, and countless other atrocities. In fact, your description there reminds me of the "conversions by the sword" that your Christians forced on my northern European ancestors.

No sacred trees in Eden - what would have happened?
by Awakened07 in-this is a hypothetical "for the sake of argument"-topic, where we take for granted that the biblical story of adam and eve (as it is presented in the bible we have available today) is literally true.
i think it can be an interesting exercise.. now - let's for this discussion say god did not plant any 'special' tree in the garden of eden.
no tree of knowledge, and no tree of life.

The whole punishment thing destroys the concept of free will anyways. If I threaten to kill you if you don't give me all your money, and then later you take me to court, and I say "He give it out of his own free will", does that make sense? How is it any more reasonable if god does it? "Do everything I say, or I will kill you?"

ok so who exactly is going to the memorial this year....and why?
by Cordelia ini am, my dad is doing it, i'm going to their hall theyve just moved there (to 'help' out).
i figured its the one meeting i can't miss as i upset them by not going to any others at all, also ive made a point of not going to my hall and i won't let anyone know i'm at my dads.
my dad is actually worried i might 'be apostate' about it, as i once said surely passing on the bread and wine is like saying 'no thanks jesus!

I noticed this absurd ritual they perform for the first time this year.
The brother giving the Recruitment Speech sits down in the front row when the Passers are passing around the crackers & grape juice. Then when the Passers are done they all come sit in the front row and one of them hands a plate of crackers/glass of (babylon the) Grape juice to him. Then he gets up and hands the plate/glass to one of the Passers, and they all pass it down the row of them selves. Meanwhile Brother Speaker goes to the end of the row and waits for them all to finish passing it. Then he puts it back on the table, and all the Passers get up and return to their seats in the audience.
The irony, of course, is that not one of them actually takes the stuff so what the hell is the point of all this rigamarole? They sure love to tear Catholics limb from limb about all their rituals and traditions; but that ritual there is just as bad as anything Catholics have ever thought up.

Yup, Jesus was a random Jewish philosopher who taught a doctrine of weakness and self-loathing. No mysticism, magic tricks, or hand-waving.

Shawn...Have you ever looked at Atheist rulers...they make the crusaders religion look like pacifist
The crusades were carried out "in the name of god" - what's more, in the name of a supposedly loving, merciful god.
Communist bloodbaths, if that's what you are referring to, were not carried out "in the name of atheism".

It's quite sad how, in any argument about theism, Christians are inevitably reduced to saying "well we'll just have to wait and see when God comes to straighten things out." They're defending the existence of the most supreme being conceivable to the human intellect. They should have a better argument than that.

The Future of the Watchtower Society and the Internet
by DT init seems that the watchtower society was very ill prepared for the advent of the internet.
perhaps, some of the governing body thought the end would come before it became a big problem.
now it is a big problem and is only going to get worse.

The grumbling body doesn't actually BELIEVE the crap they feed to their R&F. I suspect that they'll try to ban the internet soon. It reminds me of what I overheard this sister with a thick Jamacian accent saying once:
"Dat intah-net, it's just taking so many of our brothers! It sure is Satan! I don't think we should even use dat intah-net!"
