Being a Jehovah's Witness Can Make You Fat

as there has been some talk lately of a crackdown on obesity (in the form of the great boasting session), it might be time for a thread about how being one of jehovah's witlesses can lend one to becoming fat.. first, my personal situation.

when i was in college, i gained the 4x15 pounds that were supposed to be gained in college, and it was only my sophomore semester.

it was legitimately my fault.

Hey WTWizard - I don't know if you heard about the supposed "obesity crackdown" anywhere other than my thread about the A$$embly, but I didn't really get the impression that they were preparing for a big crackdown on obesity. It was more of a tool used to gain obedience - "if you're obese, you're a glutton and god hates you, so you better do as we say to avoid dying at Armageddon."

For some reason I never felt guilty about this. Sometimes I felt guilty about not feeling guilty, like, "Isn't doing this supposed to make you feel all dirty and worthless? I feel great, there must be something wrong with me." Fortunately that didn't last long.

Athiests please answer these questions

i'm not trying to pick a fight i was just sitting at my desk pondering on some threads on jwd and i would very much like this question answered.. why is it that athiest often (not always) direct their argument for athiesism towards christians?

why not direct your argument towards buddists or muslims or even new-agers?

i mean they also believe in a higher power so why is it that only christains seem to get knocked?

I was once told by an elderette that she bought a bedset secondhand. Then she woke up in the middle of the night and the bedset was moving all around the room. They threw it out the next day. Honestly, what the hell is wrong with these people?

Organ Transplants and Abortions

please note that i only actually agree with premises 1 and 2; the rest are just for demonstration.. 1. in the past, the gb banned all organ transplants.. 2. witlesses died becuase of this ban.. 3. the gb has lifted the ban on organ transplants.. 4. there was never any scriptural basis for a ban on organ transplants.. 5. despite having killed people through unscriptural teachings, the gb is not bloodguilty becuase those people will be resurrected in the new system.. now then:.

6. aborted babies will be resurrected in the new system.. 7. mothers who abort their babies are not bloodguilty.. 8. abortion is a-ok!.

any flaws here?.

Sirona's God and the Perspectivist Approach

our culturally biassed and contextual image of god is that of a male being, omnipotent, eternal, and existing outside the created world.

sirona introduced me to a new type of god (maybe one without caps, i'm not sure): a divinity who is human-like, framed within the human perspective, subject to suffering, growing and dying, like anything else in the visible universe.. isn't it time to face the fact that our western image of god is nothing more than our perspective on god with all its negative and positive aspects included?

why do we need to prove the existence of our god if it's only the perspective we feel comfortable with?

You people are silly. Clearly, god is neither a "male being, omnipotent, eternal, and existing outside the created world", nor a "a divinity who is human-like, framed within the human perspective , subject to suffering, growing and dying". God is small and brown. He smelled a bit at first, but he seems to have mellowed out after a couple of weeks. Oh, did I mention he lives in my toilet? I know he's god becuase he talks to me.

Prove me wrong.
