i doubt youll even read this letter since it comes from your son, a son youve abandoned over your religious views, but i wanted to write you one final letter to see if theres any hope that you can come to your senses as far as this religion goes and we can renew our relationship.

im doing this because i care for you and mom deeply and feel very much distressed that you two refuse to see anyones opinion as being factual other than your own when it concerns the jw religion.

Pieces of the puzzle from a pedophile's past

i've researched a lot of topics concerning wt history but i have to admit that the pedophile thing hasn't been one of them.

however, check this out... i grew up with a guy i'll call "dudley".

according to an elder "dudley" molested a younger guy in the congregation named "tom".

According to an elder "Dudley" molested a younger guy in the congregation named "Tom". Years later, "Dudley" is in a congregation with my in-laws. "Dudley" and his wife want to be really close with my in-laws. My in-laws have a male child. I warn my in-laws about what I remember hearing about "Dudley". They are grateful I warn them. However they raise the question to me, "Why is Dudley still in good standing?" I didn't have an answer then. But I think I'm starting to formulate one now. You guys have more knowledge of the pedophile thing. Why do you think Dudley is still in good standing if the elders knew what he did? Help me flesh this out further in my mind.

in steve hassan's book, " combatting cult mind control" - one of the points that assisted me the most is understanding that all cult members have a " cult " personality which turns on when defending their faith, and they have an authentic, non - cult personality they were born with- the personality they had before being programmed by the jehovah's witnesses or any other " cult".

how is this dual cult/ authentic personality manifest ?

hassan mentions in his book that, " one moment the person is speaking cultic jargon with a hostile or elitist know-it-all attitude .

Being brought up in the borg my dominant personality was the cult personality. Only after drifting away did I find my true personality. My dad is so caught up in the borg that I rarely see his true personality, the one I'm sure he had before I was born, when he was "worldly". He is very hard to truly get to know. My brother has suppressed his true personality in deference to the cult personality. (On another note, "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour has some killer lead guitar!)

so, we aren't going to stay young and never die.

how do you feel about aging, especially those of you that are over 35?

aging poses some concerns for me, especially since i am 49 and pretty much single.

California JWs -- Are they different than most JWs?

i've heard stories from people multiple times about their trips to california and how they were surprised to find out how lax the witlesses out there were concerning rules, behavior.

just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that.
