my son who is in college just called and said that he watched a movie titled "worlds apart" and it was about jw's and disfellowshipping.. has anyone seen this, or know much about it ?.

My wife admitted a WT rule was ridiculous!

When we were dating, my wife and I lived in different cities. I would come up to visit her and stay the night at a male JW friend's house. He was going through a divorce but still living in the same house with his ex. In the morning when I got up, he would leave for work and I would be left in the house with his ex until I left. His ex's super JW sister would chew me out for being alone with her for that brief amount of time.
Recently I made the point to my wife: according to WT rules, if a man stays the night at a woman's house and they are not married, they could be DF'd for the appearance of impropriety. Yet, here my friend and his ex were staying under the same roof, and the elders just took them at their word that nothing sexual was going on between them. (Remember, if they were to have sex, then, according to WT rules, they would be taking each other back). In reality, of course, nothing could ever be proven in either case.
My wife admitted she had never thought about that before, and actually admitted how stupid the whole thing was! I hope these baby steps continue for her.

Do you know any JW's who commited a 'sin' in the past but never confessed it to the elders?

Just spent the weekend at JW in-laws, gag reflex working overtime!

Went to visit my wife's grandparents. She is JW, he is not. He's a lot of fun.
She pointed out her 60 years worth of bound volumes lined along the wall to the ceiling. She said she was going to have the guy who made the shelves come back and reinforce them because they are buckling under the weight.
Her husband used to be very opposed, I'm sure she thought for decades that Jehovah was going to destroy him at Armageddon. Looks like old age and natural causes will be the real culprit.
Anyway, my wife's super-pioneer sister was there too. She loves to listen to herself talk about eating organic, alternative health remedies, and dropping not-so-subtle hints that I need to reach out in the congregation ("what a blessing to my family it would be", etc.)
So needless to say, it's good to get back home to reality!

Youths and Young Adults Missing in my Congregation

all were vibrant and zealous members.
some conducted bible studies, some were dedicated and quite enthusiastic in the "truth".. .

Most of the young JWs I grew up with are now my Facebook friends. None of them are still Witnesses. Some are apostate, some are gay, and most have just gotten on with their lives.

I was looking forward to Blondie's comments about this article as well.
The paragraph that really struck me was #9, about how the violence in today's entertainment is training people for the time when they will slaughter their fellowman.

What about new light?
by spectromize ini just wanted to ask a question concerning the expression," new light," whenever the brothers and sisters are talking and when we suddenly see a new point in the watchtower or a new teaching from the society as far as our beliefs such as the change in doctrine like the generation teaching.
is it really accurate to say new light or just plain and simple error ?.
you see i grew up as a catholic and before i became a witness we considered our church and the pope as god's representative.
