Hope this amounts to something but wary from disappointments past... surely the Governing Body can't hold back the flood forever...

$3 Billion class action lawsuit on behalf of Jehovahs Witnesses children
by mind blown indecember 1, 2012. australia.
a $3 billion class action lawsuit is being launched in australia on behalf of up to 6,160 children within the church of jehovahs witnesses.
documents relating to the class action reveal over 14,000 serious criminal breaches of mandatory child protection laws, committed against these children by elders and ministers of religion within the church of jehovahs witnesses over the past 4 years.. the victorian government inquiry into the handling of child abuse by religions and other organisations is currently investigating the allegations, and is expected to hold a public hearing in relation to this in early 2013.. http://jwnewsnetwork.wordpress.com/2012/12/01/3-billion-jehovahs-witnesses-class-action-over-child-abuse/.

With elders like that, who needs Pharisees!
by 00DAD ini'm sure you're all familiar with the quip, "with friends like that, who needs enemies!
a recent thread got me thinking about how this easily applies to the organization in general and to many of the elders in particular.
now i know, there are some few good elders out there (god knows i tried to be one).

When I was inactive a couple elders dropped by to visit me. I happened to mention that I was having cable TV installed that day. One of the bastards said, "Is that so you can watch dirty movies?" He was brother Birk, but from that day on I called him "Brother Jerk".

So happy you have found your place in life- the natural place that it should be, with your family! Something the WT tries to take away from us.
But be careful using a chainsaw while high. You could end up harshing your mellow real quick.

Come off it yourself dude. Same guy who started a thread about not going out in service because no one is home during the weekday. I found people at home all the time on weekdays. I'm not defending JWs, I'm just pointing out reality. Some people on here get WAYYY too carried away.

Mustaches are okay, but beards are not. Suits and dresses are the only acceptable forms of clothing for worship.
How many times is the term "governing body" found in Bible? How many times is the term "faithful and discreet slave"? Compare this with the number of times Jesus is mentioned, whom the Bible refers to as our exemplar, the head of the congregation, our redeemer, and the one to whom all authority in heaven and earth has been given, in whose name every knee should bow. Just sayin.
We need to record and report the time we spend preaching, and appointments in the congregation are based mainly on this.
Accepting certain fractions of blood is a conscience matter.
The generation of Matthew 24 is actually 2 overlapping generations. -

Living Through the Brief Liberalization of Jehovah's Witnesses, Never Recovering
by TMS inwith the book crisis of conscience detailing the turbulence at bethel during the early to mid 70's, the transformation from autocratic rule to governance by committee or a body of men, many of us can speak to how that felt among the rank and file of the local congregations during those years.
we learned new concepts based in large part to research done for the aid to bible understanding volume, then we were asked or coerced into unlearning those principles, going back to the old ways.
some of us never readjusted, finding ourselves very different from our more hardline compadres.. the inertia for the changes that eventually were initiated in the congregations came from the discovery that the greek words episkopos and presbyteros were used biblically to refer to all qualified men in a congregation, not just one.

My father wandered into this cult in the early 70s. Being a baby then I never knew there was a time when JWs were more liberal. I found this thread fascinating and am sad the freedom didn't last.

Which Governing Body Members Do You Believe Read "Crisis Of Conscience"?
by JimmyPage inmy guess would be the ones featured prominently in the book.
franz speculated on different directions the wt doctrine might eventually take and he was proved right.
perhaps his ideas were considered by some to be good solutions to the corners they painted themselves into and stolen on that basis.

I totally agree, wha. I know if I was featured prominently in someone else's book I would definitely want to know what was being said.

I have to wonder if some of them did, especially when it first came out. My guess would be the ones featured prominently in the book. Franz speculated on different directions the WT doctrine might eventually take and he was proved right. Perhaps his ideas were considered by some to be good solutions to the corners they painted themselves into and stolen on that basis. It would be hard to believe that no Governing Body member has ever read the book.

Are They Cynically Shutting Down The Organization?
by metatron ini've raised this idea before but recent events seem to support it.
changes in the watchtower may be guided by more than a need for cash flow: they may simply be liquidating/shutting it down as discreetly as possible.. of course, this doesn't mean they stop working on their upstate ny country club - but it could mean that the throrough going exposure and disproof of their beliefs on the internet, when it emerged, took many of them by surprize, as it did many of us!
after awhile, they generally gave up trying to make any sense of their doctrines - and coupled with cash flow issues - moved towards a quiet retreat.. take a look at a few things:.

I think the convention drama a few years ago offered insight into a conflict that was going on within the Watchtower Society. I think there were some members who, like the character Scolios, wanted to make changes to the organization for the better. In the end though these ideas were demonized and squashed by the Governing Body as being a return to false religious thinking. And now the grip of these madmen is tightening.
