Oh my God, I knew it!!!

i am a big fan of the group 30 seconds to mars, and whats amazing is many of their songs seem to have a anti cult theme like "huricane" "up in the air" and others.

so after i watched a video of the song huricane, so i could see the lyrics i googled to see if they, the lead singer jared leto and his brother shannon, were former jw's and yes they were.

crazy small world!!!!.

How much meaning are the rank and file putting on October 2014?

it's definitely on their minds.

i attended a funeral recently and a jw told me that the person who died almost made it to the 100 year anniversary of the birth of the kingdom.. curious what comments like this you've heard in your area?.

(and can't wait for november!).

If "ten" represents completeness according to the Bible, then ten times ten (one hundred) must have even more significance.

And it does!

Completeness to the full in the sense of complete and utter bullshit.

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic

i first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.

at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.

april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Password you and I have both gone through similar experiences at roughly the same times. After reading Ray Franz I too continued to believe in the Bible but as you say an open mind tends to stay open. I went on to read Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens, and books about evolution.
