  this meeting held july 30.

  Somewhat familiar Helsinki came up so many times that I started searching for Jehovah at http://www.csce.gov/helsinki.cfm I found a CSCE document "Deteriorating Religious Liberties in Europe". This meeting held July 30. 1998 had interesting connection to the Society. Mr Colby May a Senior Counsel in the Office of Governmental Affairs of the American center for Law and Justice was questioned by James Pellecchia from Public Affairs International for Jehovah's Witnesses.

  Go and load this pdf-file where on page 19 mr May replies: "On the other hand, I hope that the process of granting to the Watch Tower Society what we call an Intesa, or a sort of concordat in Italy......Intesa is much more than being recognized, it is really entering into cooperative agreement with the government."

  To my view religious deterioration in this respect has rather taken place somewhere else.

  hi folks,.

  i'm doing some interesting research on the procedure of reinstatement back into the org.. if anyone here can relate how many months/years passed by from the time you got df'd, till the time you got reinstated, it would be very helpful.

  also include how often elders met with you, if you attended meetings regularly during the time you were df'd, and if you approached the elders for reinstatement(and how many times you approached them), or they approached you.

  I was DF'd about 30 years ago and roughly 8 years ago an elder phoned me twice and told that there is a campaign going on to contact people like me. He brought up the fact that I had married and had two kids and so on so forth. All the years since my chilghood this very elder ignored me and it was still obvious when I returned from prison refusing army service. After more than two years time one would have appreciated even one slightly warm word. The campaing must be true because this elder had guts to contact me.

  I am still DF'd and in wiev of recent incident glad not being collectively and secretly represented in UN.

  I had a fruitfull discussion and have provided him a list of related links. I suppose he will contact the local Branch and possibly wait for other signs. I will report any progress I run across in this matter.

  We have to bear in mind that this type of news is not so hot here as it would be for example in East Coast. Traditionally this type of news is no news at all here.

  I am working on other contacts as well.

  You have point there, but my personal experience goes further than actual military service. Even the option of working in a hospital instead was not accepted behavior of JW. The outcome was more than two years hard labour in circumstances that our press described as a concentration camp. And lets bear in mind that we were told not to even enter certain premises and awoid unnecessary lingering in areas with christmas trees etc. Me looking back it is impossible to imagine any justification whatsoever to those NGO/DPI apologies - hypocrisy is the word for me.

  through the years jw are taught not to read this and that, ham radio was evil (altghough awake listed frequencies and sceduled times for jw hams), today this is applied to internet as well.

  i hope this ngo/dpi alone will prove the dangers associated here.

  blind faith simply does not pay off.. here is one way of describing the difference how faith can be based either on assumption or a proven knowledge.

  I was not precise. What I am referring to is that how much stronger your faith would possibly prove if you can challenge it. It seems JW rather stick their head into a bush than follow what is happening around them.

  What comes to my friend - he takes occasional drink, maybe two but that is the absolute limit. About 25 yrs ago first drink was a start of a spree. He abstained for about 20 yrs and masters it now.

  This is a good practise for me to express myself so that an english speaking would also catch the idea. But I recon there is a long way to go as the illusion created by a word or an idiom differs.

  My friend lived from or by the bottle an AA helped him to control the consumption. Anyway that was not the point I was striving for.

  years ago young jw finns were detained for refusing military service.

  the option of serving a non-governmental organization instead was a no-no for us.

  the time i served was two years four months and fifteen days hard labour (1965-68) and i have not regretted any of that before yesterday.. for almost thirty years i have not been in contact with jw but as my youngest left home i started more active internet surfing and chatting.

  Thank you for welcoming. I should not expect any difficulties besides language. (A heap of strange abbreviations and idioms.) This NGO/DPI did activate me, just mailed a letter to my JW sister and eagerly waiting for the reaction.

  Here is one way of describing the difference how faith can be based either on assumption or a proven knowledge. A friend of mine has manifested this in practise.

  One may assume that one has concuered ones alkoholism by the fact that one has been without alcohol x number of days. Knowledge of this concuest is proven by the fact that one pours a single drink and caps the bottle for x number of days.

  Anyway for us Nordic replace the drink with so called "Friday bottle".
