  Strange Brew (fluff)

  wanted to be sure my fluff was clearly labeled as such.. something in chat last night got me to thinking about some of the strange mixed drinks i have willingly partaken of over the years.see if anybody can beat these.... (4) trash can punch-usually mixed in large quantities consisting of red hawaiian punch,mello yellow,pieces of fresh fruit,and ample quanities of everclear.

  (3)cherry limeaides w/vodka.

  (2)dr pepper w/brandy.

  Same nonalcoholic beer is/was on sale here too, but price is/was higher than proper beer. That extra cost is because alcohol is removed after the fermentation and besides hardly anybody would buy that stuff. So only the true lover of vodka taste would spend the same money for fake vodka - I have never heard of one.

  Few beers is ok, but what is the use of getting inibriated with all those secondary products of fermentation? Those fusel oils and other by-products are the ones needed only for the purpose of hangover.

  You said it. Our tradition is plain vodka or moonshine and possibly a splash of mineral water for those beginners.

  But who said that it should taste good? If anybody here would drink vodka just for the taste of it I am shure there would be a nonalcoholic variation of vodka on sale as well - but there is not.

  Bizarre religious doctrines

  i am aware of false religious doctrines in the w.t.s.. i never really considered the possibility of others also being manipulated by different religious organizations.. i work with a woman who is very devout in her beliefs.

  the women in her church are not permitted to use birth control, cut their hair, wear makeup or wear jewelry.

  they may sing but no music or musical instruments are permitted.

  Sounds like a sect or movement we have here. No TV, no laundry machine with a glass window (not see women underwear tumbling around) etc.

  and while the information presented has been covered here before...i wanted to bring it up again, for the new members, and to all of us really.

  even now, being "out" , i still wonder as i got to the doctors for various tests and proceedures, what if?

  At that time I was busy getting well and back to my family. This seemed so little as to compared what I had just undergone. Also it was about 25 years ago and therefore history.

  But not history of its own. Me being still a JW my JW bank manager did leak my financial matters to my mother, information that I actually would have kept for myself. But I was too young then to take any action.

  Today I am better off; now I can choose my friends.

  You have a point there. All latest installations of rotary offset machines I have been connected with are being run minimun two shifts, three if possible. Long gone is the time when second largest newspaper here did run its Harris for 30 minutes saleable a night and that was all. Rest of the day they kept polishing the baby.

  In any case mere devotion to religion has very little or nothing to do with competence in graphic industry of today.

  I had a serious accident about four years after my DF'n. While still recovering in hospital my JW mother visited me and told me that they had given me blood. She was the first one to tell me? She revealed that the source was a JW doctor who's name was familiar to me (but this man had nothing to do with my case), that my mother asked to check my file. The way my mother told this news was as this behavior of JW back scratching would be most natural way to go. I do not mind my mother knowing it, but she did not see anything wrong her asking and another JW prying out without authority nor the doctor.

  No wonder I do not trust any of them back slappers anymore and I am ashamed I did for a while.

  how common it is in usa that a jw has a legal firearms?

  i have no recollection of wtbs publications handling this matter specifically.

  of course general attitude towards firearms in usa is different from europe but so is also legislation.. it is just that once being a concsientious objector i cannot, even after almost 40 years, imagine myself having one.

  Swiss are interesting exception because the possession of firearms is tied form of military duty. It would be interesting to know a JW stand in this setup.

  Besides certain civil servats taxi drivers and certain private security workers for example can here apply for a permit to carry around an unconsealed firearm. My interest is a JW attitude, understanding that anybody is entitled here applying a permit. It will only be denied on certain grounds. I believe I would be eligible as well.

  In my garden is one of subspecies we call valkea kuulas (that would translate something like white translucent). When it is ripe it is as white outside than inside.

  The moral of the story to me is... Do not ask questions unless you know what you are talking about.

  Thanks for the quote which was easy to guess although I was DF'd about 30 years ago. My question was inspired because this recent incident and I know this is truly a hot issue to ask about.

  In spite of road accidents I assume that one can own car without intention to kill. I just wonder what the death toll would amount up to if motor vehicles would be used primarily for fun and pleasure as much as guns?

  If I am not grossly mistaken carrying a sword, open or concealed, is regulated pretty well over this continent. At least in Finland you are better to have a good explanation even carrying a standard knife in your pocket in suspicious situation. If this knife found in your bootleg you are already in trouble.

  It is not everybody that will take up hunting just for the thrill of killing animals. Those hunting seasons here used to be quite wet and people did hurt others and outsiders but nowadays hunters are quite sober except the ones that prey birds. And what comes to self defence I have heard a quote that in USA the chance to get hurt from your own gun or from gun of ones familiar outnumbers well the chance of getting hurt from a gun of total stranger.
