ok, so i have been thinking about my time as a jw (i'm fading out - read my other posts for background info).
you know how you always hear how the ministry will bring so much joy and contentment, yadda yadda yadda?
i always hated service...always!!

Welcome to the board...
Aren't the elders are such a loving provision!!!
"Butthead..."
my soon to be ex husband takes my daughter, who is two and a half, to the meetings still because our divorce judge awarded him her on those nights since i didnt attend a place of worship at the time of our split.
(well duh, i was recovering from a cult) i recently found out she has been "answering" at the meetings.
(she is very advanced for her age, very talkative and articulate) i'm just sick from this.
Children almost always look over at their parents after they comment.
You can watch for it like clockwork.
Usually they have no idea what they have just said, they are just repeating words trying to gain the approval of the adult.
Parents will almost always reciprocate with smiles and nods of approval, which is all the kid really wants.
.
are they as good as they make out, any drawbacks to having one?.
i'm thinking of getting my crown replaced with one but wonder if the 3000 ($6000) is worth it.. .
My Dad has had several, and they look like natural teeth. They even colored them a little so that they would match his existing teeth.
it's unavoidable... when a jw finds out you no longer believe it's "the truth," they're eager to jump on flaws in your thinking.
they (and formerly, we) want to believe that, when someone leaves, there must have been something that "soured you" to the organization.
some personal thing that resulted in bitterness and therefore your departure.. it's good to be able to say that you didn't leave because of any big scandal or personal affront, isn't it?
This is a great post Confession.
For those out there who have to deal with relatives or friends that try to convince them that their "one" reaon for leaving is trivial... it can be very frustrating.
They don't get the point that "one" little, trivial detail is just part of a huge mountain of facts that prove the WTBS is a fraud.
this just really shook me up.
i would love to see tons of comments about how this little girl very well may be df'd someday.
pay attention at the 53rd second,.
Something went wrong with my last post... oh well, I guess I am typing too fast and not looking at what I am doing.
Anyway. I watched one of the other videos they have posted. It is of their kids playing bible charades on vacation.
This reminds me of a family in my current hall. The parents are real JW nazis. They spend vacations doing unassigned territory, and they have family study on the non-meeting nights.
Pretty sad for the kids.
Sometimes I think when you look at the kids (both are barely pre-teen) it's like they keep ckecking their watches to see if they are 18 yet.
When they are old enough to decide for themselves... POW! they're gone.
this just really shook me up.

i say this because i have been helped so much by the many posts that represent the way i feel about the wtbts.
it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.
i am currently inactive and dont comment but do attend meetings for the sake of the family.. my wife is still in and i have a daughter and one on the way.
Welcome my friend!
Send me a pm if you are still online.
you know how there are somethings that give you so much pleasure or joy?
it doesn't have to be anything amazing or huge, but for some reason it makes you so happy for those few moments.
some of mine are drinking coffee in the morning with my best friend at work, and the smell of an open fire (it reminds me of being a young child at my grandparents' house).
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings...
these are my favorite videos.
