  BB - Thanks for sharing, I'm glad that you and your mom were able to work it out. I hope that I can have a similar outcome.

  Momz - Thanks for the book reccomendation, I ordered a copy on Amazon.

  Real one - The problem is that my ex did just about everything but cheat. I had all 3 "grounds for seperation" but not grounds for divorce. I however cannot imagine having to stay single because my first marriage ended through no fault of my own. My parents on the other hand do expect me to be single until "Jehovah takes care of it" and have even joked that I will be "the old cat lady". When the apostle Paul spoke of reasons why a woman can leave her husband, he did not say that she can't remarry. It wouldn't make sense to say that, because back then a woman couldn't live on her own, they couldn't even own land. This is where my parents and I disagree. I'll bet if the WTBTS changed their view on it my parents would too though.

  My BF (IMM) and I have both had very good experiences when posting on this site and have gotten GREAT feedback. (well except for a few that told him that he'd be better off dumping his ex-dub GF for a non-exdub lol)

  Seriously though, I am really glad this site is here, and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

  Thanks Momz,

  It does help to hear how others have done it. I am an adult and have been living on my own for several years. I also resent having to explain myself and I just want my parents to accept my decisions. However I know from experiance they are very inquisitive and there will be a lot of follow up questions. I am learning to set boundries although I'm not very good at it, and to be honest the thought of talking to them on the phone about this stresses me out a great deal. They know I have not been attending meetings for some time and are not happy about it to say the least. Lately they just seem very cold toward me, not that we talk much anymore... I'm not sure if the chilly conversations we have make it easier or harder. I guess it depends on the day.

I want to tell them why, but I don't want to be labeled an "apostate" because I don't want to lose them completly so maybe I will keep my reasons to myself. I am trying to decide whether to pour my heart out in a letter or over the phone. I tend to like letters because then you can't be interrupted and there seems to be less intimidation but I am worried that it may come off as cowardly and impersonal. Any thoughts or idea on the best way to handle this???

  Seems like all you have to do in order to not get DF'd for some "serious" sin is say you're repentant and have seen the error of your ways (you don't have to mean it though) and then go to all meetings and some FS for a while. It doesn't matter what you've done or whom you've hurt, you can get out of it with those simple actions AND your victims are supposed to just forgive you. I know this from seeing those around me work the system so to speak.

  So there you have it empty apology + meeting attendance = gross sins being washed away.

  Campbell's vegetable soup (the one with the alphabet noodles) and a PB&J sandwich cut diagonally into triangles. Dip the sandwich triangles into the soup! SOOOO YUMMY!!!!!!.

  Reminds me of my childhood.

  I am going to my first meeting at a Kingdom Hall today......

  i decided to take in my first meeting today in an effort to better understand my girlfriend's family.

  to be honest, i am not looking forward to this at all.

  i know most all the people i am going to meet are nice and mean well.

  I will soon be formally introducing IMM to my parents. We both feel very strongly about the WTS, however IMM had never been to a meeting before yesterday. I decided to go one last time so he could see what it's like and now when confronted by my parents as to whether he's ever even been he can at least say he has and that it was a load of garbage. I do feel that him having this experiance will help prepare him for dealing with my parents.

  We've tried out a couple of churches and it was actually harder for me to step into a KH than my first church was. I was actually surprised by the feelings I had going there. We went to a congo where I didn't know anyone, so there was no added pressure there.

  I'm just glad that it's over and I NEVER wanna do that again!

  Sister getting baptized.....

  my little sister just called to inform me the she has completed her baptism questions and is scheduled to get dunked in a few months.

  there's not really anything i can do or say about it because she's a minor and in my oppinion not old enough to make any life long commitment.

  anyone have a similar situation?

  I don't want to give her exact age, but I will say that she has not even reached her teenage years yet and is still a child. I'm afraid that if I say anything out of line with the dub beliefs to her, my parents will restrict my contact with her. So I feel like in some ways I am forced to play along. Although they do know that I'm "inactive" and have "worldly" friends.

  And another thing!

  The speaker gave an experiance about a schizophrenic sister that said listening to kingdom melody tapes is better than any medicine prescribed by her doctors.... Don't schizophrenics tend to dislike medicine? And is that really the best endorsement for kindom melodies they could get???

  There were also 2 sisters in the bathroom talking about how immodest another sisters engagment ring was and how she shouldn't be so flashy..... I had almost forgotten how catty some of these "sisters" can be.
