  my parents more or less disassociated themselves from the borg when i was very young, and i kept going to the hall with my grandpa, an elder, until i was about 13 or so.

  however, although my parents did not profess to be jehovah's witnesses any longer, they also did no move on to anything else--they were terrified of what their relatives and the jw's might think, and i don't know if they knew how to move on anyway.

  anyway, i did not attempt to celebrate christmas until i was living on my own, i think when i was 21. .

  I have always celebrated Christmas ( never been a JW )..... But since my mid-teens the excitement of Christmas has faded for me and my family. We think this is because there are no children in the family. We just have a family day and keep the gifts to a reasonable level, it's a bit like a Sunday with extra fine food and gifts thrown in. Now should I ever have a baby it would be sooo different!

  For many people the fun of Christmas is mainly the preparation/build-up..... the day itself can be an anticlimax!

  wow the Christian values of this 'brother' are shining! He wants to welcome you back despite you being an idiot and he tells you this in an email because he can't speak through gritted teeth presumably?

  I wonder if he has read the New Testament at all?

  I love reading all the posts, I spend ages doing it! but I rarely post because usually it's already been said! I think it will take a few years for me to reach 'junior member' status! Having said that I don't want to post crap comments just to get there quicker! hopefully people prefer quality rather than quantity!

  Paradise on earth?

  this thread has probably been 'done' a million times before but as i am fairly new to the forum i would like to ask (quite seriously)......... if you still beleive in god do you also still believe in paradise on earth?.

  my friend has realised that it's not the truth.....not sure whether her belief in the above will change though.. thenks bbinkss.

  Ataloa..... I have no idea! I am just curious as to what conclusions people come to when reading the bible without the 'guidence' of the wts.

  I am questioning everything and I am not sure what I believe at all!

  No JW-info booth at the airport?

  yesterday, i had the opportunity to go to the airport and take my wifes' son - who had to fly back home - to the airport.. usually, i have a mixture of dread, and anticipation as i walk through the airport, as the jws have an airport-provided kiosk where only the elite jws are allowed to man (or woman), and hand out literature (you have to be on a list to do this - and usually only long-time pioneers get the opportunity).

  the previous trip - when we picked him up, i seem to remember it was there, and i gave a big smile - and 'hello' to the individuals posted there with their litter-ature scattered about on the kiosk tabletop.. well... yesterday... i looked for the kiosk - thinking that i would like to say 'hello' again as we passed by.

  no one is there, but the kiosk is sitting off to the side.

  It's all so confusing! Why don't the main stream christian church talk about it if it is mentioned in the bible?
