Yes,I wrote the society to let them know what a stuck-up,back-stabbing,nose-in-the-air,hypocritical,elitist,unloving,unchristian,cliquish,materialistic,congregation the Mesquite Central congregation was.I hope someone from there reads this.If they ever come to my door I'll tell them to their faces.(The society never replied.)

Have You Ever Written A Letter To the Society?
by minimus inwhen i was a kid, i remember my family regularly visiting other friends, including a brother that was the bible study servant.
every week, he would send a different letter to the society on a variety of subjects.
when our families would meet, he would ask us the question and we would do research or give our opinion on what we thought the society's answer was going to be.

Just venting
by dsgal ini faded from the jws thirteen months ago and since then i have only been called on by two elderly pioneer "sisters" a couple of times.no loving shepherding calls from the elders, not even once.i always felt out of place at the kh because i didn't have any friends there.never once got invited to social gatherings the whole year i went there.what's with all the clique $hit?that's about as far from jesus' teachings as i've ever seen.now today out of the blue i have a message on my machine from one of the elder's mother.i didn't call her back.wonder what came over her to think of me anyway?oh well, you all might not understand my feelings but i feel better now that i sat down and typed it out.

Thanks to all of you who replied.I will probably never get over the hurt they caused me but it makes me feel better to know there are others who understand where I'm coming from.

How to succeed in field service w/o really trying
by joe_from_kokomo inah, field service .
that joy of knocking on a total stranger's doors to try to sell them on your own religious doctrines.
isn't it joyful?

My son and I would go around placing magazines in a few washaterias and count a couple of hours for it.ANYTHING to keep from waking people up on Saturday morning and talking to them about something I wasn't sure about myself.

Isaiah's Prophecy- Light for all Mankind??
by joe_from_kokomo ini don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but i must say, that the isaiah's prophecy books are the most boring drivel i have ever had to endure.
i don't know which member of the writing department or the gb wrote this 2 part set, but i have to say that it is super-duper-dull beyond words.
perhaps the author suffers from alzheimers and forgot that he wrote the same thing again and again and again... .

I dropped out in the middle of part one.I'd hate to think I had to endure part two.

Did anyone here actually enjoy meetings?
by berylblue ini always found them to be painfully boring at best.
speaking of meetings, i was in a congregation where people openly admitted that the -only- reason they went was to see who brother cassanova-wanna-be (you know, the total geek who, in the world, wouldn't be able to pay a prostitute to go out with him, but in the truth, was considered a "catch" by virtue of having a penis) was going to hit on that week.
this brother routinely preyed upon women, leading them on, in some cases, rather cruelly.

The meetings were the only time I was welcome.Everything else they left me out of.They would have left me out of the meetings too if their uppety butts could have gotten away with it.

Merry Christmas from the WT
by meadow77 in1904 "even though christmas is not the real anniversary of our lord's birth, but more properly the annunciation day or the date of his human begetting (luke 1:28), nevertheless, since the celebration of our lord's birth is not a matter of divine appointment or injunction, but merely a tribute of respect to him, it is not necessary for us to quibble particularly about the date.
we may as well join with the civilized world in celebrating the grand event on the day which the majority celebrate - "christmas day.
"" (watchtower, dec. 1, 1904, p364)

AMEN!...Who are we to argue with the Watchtower?

What's your favorite Xmas carol?
by Scully in.
my two favorites are a toss up between john lennon's "so this is christmas" and the "little drummer boy" - the one where bing crosby and david bowie are singing together.. love, scully
