i recently came across this warm, encouraging letter i received from an elderette.
background info: after going to the elders twice for drug problems, and of course getting no help, i told them i had decided to see an outpatient detox doctor.
being depressed and scared, i needed support and so asked this "sister" to go with me (my bad).

Yes,my sister who was not baptized got a VERY nasty letter when she quit her study.It nearly brought her to tears because she tried to make her feel she had lost her daughter's life.It was a typical scare tactic but after she read the letter she said there's no way she would ever have anything to do with witnesses again,and she never has.BTW,my neice is now 23 years old,happily married with a child of her own.
the following is a beginning to something i have been thinking about for a long time.
any ideas or additional thoughts would be appreciated.

They sure do tie up heavy loads and put them on men's(and women's )shoulders.Get your time in,be at the meetings,but forget about showing brotherly love.I never read about Jesus asking someone to turn in a time sheet.After he healed someone I don't remember reading about him telling them they were now obligated to get ten hours of service a month,or more if their circumstances permitted.Oh well,don't even get me started!

I'm not surprised.When my sister called off her study she got a much nastier letter from her study conductor condemning her for turning her back on Jehovah.They think the answer to everyone's problems is just to be at the meetings and go out in service.I know they don't approve of anyone getting help from a qualified professional because he might tell you to stop going to meetings.

The car groups I was in never considered breaks to be time lost.We counted every minute of it.I also noticed just before I drifted that nobody seemed to want to do door-to-door anymore.Why get out and walk around in the heat when you can ride around in the car with the a/c on and make rvs?I truly believe most jws are losing their zeal because they've been told for so long the end is near and they've confidently told it to others and now I think they are beginning to feel like they've been duped.

jesus really gave it to the pharisees for burdening down the people with heavy loads and he said "my yoke is kindly and my load is light",so i'm wondering,how many ex-jws really felt it wasn't a burden to attend five meetings a week,tend to personal and family study,prepare for meeting parts,sit all day for three days in a row at assemblies,spend your free time in field service and witness to school mates and work mates about it?

i cannot believe how credulous many jws are regarding the religions near obsession with supernatural beings.
apparently young kids misbehaving is a result of demons.
what irritates me the most is that this woman was more concerned with an alleged person with a "dangerous mind" placing the tract she left back on the car, than the fact that she left two children alone in a parked car.
I left a tract at a door where no one answered and the guy actually came down the street looking for me to give it back to me .He also did a lot of ranting and raving and threatened he would call the police if I ever put anything like that on his door again.If he only knew I didn't really want to go in service anyway.I'm so glad I don't have to bother people and be humiliated anymore.

when i left the religion, i walked away and did not get df'ed or da myself.
in doing so, my wife left the religion at the same time.
in our life we have been very nonwitness in our life.
I faded away about seven months ago and since then only a couple of pioneer "sisters" have been by my house about four times.I guess the elders don't care about their "lost sheep".
reading some of the recent posts on the blood issue reminded me of a verse that i have never yet had a jw explain.
lev 3:17 in the nwt reads " it is a statute to time indefinite for your generations, in all your dwelling places: you must not eat any fat or blood at all.".
jws use other verses to try and show that we mustn't eat blood as = having a blood transfusion.
