does anyone here have or have had a problem sleeping at night?.
you can take a wild guess as to what i may have to attribute to this.... .
when i try to sleep ar night.... mind thinks and wanders to all sorts of terrible things that could be happening to me at anytime.

When I try to sleep ar night.... mind thinks and wanders to all sorts of terrible things that could be happening to me at anytime. Some nights I can shut it off. Other times, I can't.
I don't want to end up on meds and I don't want to drink every night just so I can sleep.
Has anyone here been through this? Any experiences?

i just signed up here, so i guess i should let everyone know a few things about myself.. my maternal grandfather was an elder in a congregation here, and he and my grandmother raised my mother quite strictly as a jehovah's witness.
my father's father was also a jehovah's witness, though much less devout.
when my parents were in their mid-20's they more or less disassociated themselves from the flock.
A toast to fighting the good fight....and if drinking is ok with each person's "christian conscience" then let's toast to anything! In fact, I found a missing sock today, so toast to that!

well i'll start;.
1. i would stand up,light a joint and announce that i am "bad association".
2. feeling now liberated i would rat on every elders child (cause who wouldn't).
hahahaha.
I don't know about you, but i'd need body gaurds. Cause it'd take me atleast 30 minutes to rat out every double lifed punk I've known in my halls. Especially the elder's kids....because we all know they're the worst.

humorous answers are appreciated, but if anyone knows the real answer to this, i'd appreciate it, just so my curiousity will shut up.. the witnesses teach that the book of revelation is a book of symbols.
that's how they determined that hell is symbolic of being dead forever and that hell literal doesn't really exist.

That's how they got different things to stand for jesus, different world powers, ect. BUT. If it's a book of symbols, then why do they take the number 144,000 people going to heaven as being a literal number?
i had just became a witness and a guy i worked with, who was also a jw, told me a story that actually made me laugh and i think it upset him a bit.
the storys were almost always in the third person.
it went as follows.. this brothers wife and him were sitting at the kingdom hall on the end seats of the row next to the back of the room.
This one guy in my hall (biggest douchebag of all) had a good one. When he was 18 or 19, he was convinced that playing demonic video games like resident evil was bad, beacause he went into the bathroom that night after having played it for an hour, and couldn't see his own reflection, so he then immediately took the game back to the store.

I'm definitely in fade mode. And by fade I mean fade from the memory of every witness I've ever known.
I just started college again after a two year break. I gotta say, it's amazing how diffetrent it is when I'm doing my homework and not thinking about what all I'm going to be saying to elders in the backroom that always need to "discuss something with me".
So yeah, school is keeping me busy and is gona do wonders for the fade.
And I love simply not caring about the bastards anymore. For a while, I caused alot of crap for myself because I would get all righteously indignant and upset at all stuff I saw going on in the halls and whatnot. So yeah, that was all just a big waste of time. Verbally beating the life out of witnesses felt good at times, but it only got me more meetings for myself and my parents.
I'm gona do my thing....they can keep getting up every saturday morning:)

Just be patient, do whats right for you.
I may or may not have the experience you have, as far as what you've been through and seen. But, I can say...keep the chin up, and don't get angry.
It's one thing to make the same mistake twice, another thing to make it all of your life.
cant the elders make it so that any deviation or any thought could be considered "loose conduct" and therefore a disfellowshipping offense?

Let's see here.....I'm about to hit the big 22, and I just came from NC to the steel city. My first 6 months here, I still tried some of the the witness stuff. You know, sake of the parents....and wow. I gotta say, theres hypocrisy with witnesses everywhere, but the witnesses here in Pittsburgh make Anna Nicole Smith look like she actually loved her billionaire husband. So if anyone here is in Pittsburgh, hit me up.
Now...anyone here have some good meatmarket stories? The meatmarket being the break time of the conventions, where all the christian bastards walk around to check out who they'd like to have chaperoned dates with so they can sit close to each other at restaurants for 2 months so they can then get married before they can even drink legally. Or if they're a servant or pioneer, then they find people to have personal studies with after some hot service (wink, wink). It's summer time, and I'm not auxiliary pioneering, OR at the assemblies:( I'm not making any more stories of comedic values, so I wanna hear some new ones.:)
