Blood Fractions: damned if I can figure it out
i was thinking it would be helpful if we put together a wt lexicon for those that are not too familiar with wt terminology.
it's important for them to understand these theocratic expressions so that they too can understand and speak the "pure language" of truth.

so many of my non-witness relatives were, and are, good people.
i had to do something to deal with the likelihood of their being destroyed.. those i was close to in the faith, and i, had the hope that, sometime before the end, some issue would arise that would wake up our relatives and other loved ones to the realization that they had to come into the fold.
So many of my non-Witness relatives were, and are, good people. I had to do something to deal with the likelihood of their being destroyed.
Those I was close to in the faith, and I, had the hope that, sometime before the end, some issue would arise that would wake up our relatives and other loved ones to the realization that they had to come into the fold. Some would speculate that the destruction of false religion would be that event, even though the notion is at odds with “current truth.”
The other thoughts that we comforted ourselves with were that: (1) the God of Perfect Justice would not destroy anyone without just cause; and (2) even good people would be destroyed for the crime of “t[aking] no note,” as Jesus described those destroyed in Noah’s day.
Those thoughts worked for me, for a long time, and I believe they keep many current Witnesses pacified on this issue.
I’m curious to hear of other techniques that any of you used, when you were associated, to rationalize a loving god destroying good people.
todays last landing of the space shuttle atlantis, and the ending and retirement of the space shuttle fleet, signals the end of an era in manned space flight in the usa.. i feel obliged to bring to your attention, the man who put the the usa at the forfront of the space race, and put the first man on the moon, and was the brains and driving force of nasa, that would result ultimately in the shuttle programme, the construction of the space station, and the hubble telescope.. who was he, and what was his background ?
well his name was wernher von braum, he was a german soldier, scientist, who attained the rank of sturbannfuher in the ss, he was one of the leading figures in the development of rocket technology in the nazi regime, developing the v2 weapon, the first icbm.. he and his team of german scientists, were captured near the end of ww2 and taken to the usa, there they escaped the war trials, and von braun, the former nazi officer, was put in charge of the space programme, set up by president kennedy, he and his team of former nazi scientists designed and built the saturn v rocket which took men to the moon in july 1969, i was 7yo, my father insisted on wakening me up, to view the looner landing, i am glad he did, and now 42 years later its over, and some of our thanks, if not all must go to,wernher von braun, german ss officer..
Another player in the U.S. space program who is worthy of mention here is James Whiteside Parsons. During the 1940s, he was a researcher at Caltech in Pasadena, CA. He was one of the founders of JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory), also in Pasadena. His field was the development of solid rocket fuel, as opposed to liquid rocket fuel that was at the center of Robert Goddard's work.
As interesting as being a former Nazi is in the case of Mr. Von Braun, is the fact that Mr. Parsons was a prominent American disciple of Aleister Crowley, the famous British occultist. Mr. Parsons' home on South Orange Grove Avenue in Pasadena doubled as a lodge of Crowley's Ordo Templi Orientis. White and black magic rituals and a wide variety of sexual rituals took place there. Parsons also rented rooms in his home to those who were drawn to his world. One of the more famous renters was L. Ron Hubbard, who ran off with Parson's girlfriend in a boat purchased with Parson's money. There is a crater on the far side of the moon named the Parsons Crater, in his honor.

russ kurzen was the very unofficial historian/racanteur of bethel.. one of his memorable stories was the naming of columbia heights.
it dates back to the pre-revolutionary war period before the name "america" was settled upon.
another candidate was "columbia" (america from amerigo vespucci, columbia from that other explorer, columbus).
Russ Kurzen was the very unofficial historian/racanteur of Bethel.
One of his memorable stories was the naming of Columbia Heights.
It dates back to the pre-revolutionary war period before the name "America" was settled upon. Another candidate was "Columbia" (America from Amerigo Vespucci, Columbia from that other explorer, Columbus). The Founding Fathers were considering the Brooklyn Heights area as the seat of their nascent government. The proximity to shipping lanes was a big advantage, however the vulnerability to attack from the British was a big concern. What became Washington, D.C. had the advantage of access to shipping lanes and protection by the geography of Chesapeake Bay.
Just as "District of Columbia" came out of this period, so did the street name, "Columbia Heights."
Russ's story may or may not have been true, however it is entertaining.
I'll save his stories comparing Charles Taze Russell with D.W. Griffith and how Jehovah provided choice properties in Brooklyn Heights for another time.
Here's to word-of-mouth history, Watchtower-style.

does any one know how to send emails to jws in the brooklyn behel or else where in the wtbts organization?
is the email address format [email protected]?
in this day of technology it would be very hard to believe that the wtbts doesn't use email to communicate with elders, cos, dos, branch, and bethels.
. . . seeing the remake of Arthur!
today, no matter where you turned whether it was by radio, tv, internet, cell phone, or news paper.

it was an urgent message to relay to anyone.
Regardless of how ineffective the door-to-door work is, it's mere existence is the means to motivate the congregation publishers to pick up their standing literature order, once a week. The publishers then contribute for the literature they take away from the literature counter. It doesn't matter whether the literature ends up in the publishers' closets or in landfill, the Society receives their contributions monthly from each congregation. This model, which dates back to the days of Judge Rutherford has been the backbone of organization's survival. So long as the contributions keep coming in, the model will not change. The expense and re-tooling involved in a more up-to-date and competitive method of communication would only be considered if the contributions dropped below an acceptable level.
Another factor is the message itself. As the message has become less clear, less defined and more contradictory over time, the expense and effort of effectively communicating it may not be worth it to the GB.
