24 is my favorite tv show, both my husband and I are tuned in but only after recording it, get through those nagging commercials.
This show really keeps me on the edge of my seat and I hate when the clock runs out of time.
2nd, favorite show is , The Unit, its another one of those that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

I am 61 but what is called the new 50's.
Just incase flipper, I am 5'3" , weight 125, 37- 30-39, dark hair, brown eyes, med. skin tone
married for 42 yrs. to the same wonderful man
two children : boy 39 daughter 35
two grand-children: girl-5 boy-8 the joys of my life but poor dears are being raised in the cult. Thank goodness they have grand-parents that are not and give them Christmas and Birthday presents.
I have introduced myself in other post, but never have officially, sorry, but love this forum and really enjoy all the personalities and humor.

I was a Catholic and I doubted the church, so I left it. I will not put my trust in any man made doctrines. If I chose to follow the bible, I think Jesus made it very clear, if we accept Him as our saviour, we try to take on His personality, by doing so, we are living as Christians and will have everlasting life.
What I am leaning to more and more is, this life is all there is, then comes death, and that is the end of our story. No different then a bug that gets squashed or one that lives out its life, but in the end, the bug is still dead. Some are just fortunate to live longer then others.
When your dead, its " Lights Out the Party's Over", so live this life to the fullest. I would rather spend my time in this life being a decent, loving and kind person over one that choses a life of crime, being unkind, mean and unforgiving.

by minimus inwhen i think back of how the elders were viewed, even when i was a kid, i recognize that many people were deathly afraid of the elders.
my brother had been appointed in the 70s shortly after the elder arrangement was put into effect.
so my family always had an "in" because of our theocratic connections----not that my brother was very forceful.

I am not a JW nor do I belong to any man made religion. I have read the NT and by accepting Jesus, I take on his personality and by doing so I may have everlasting life.
I do not need an elder to watch over me, I have the Lord Jesus Christ. I know when I sin, I know what I have to do to get right. I know in my heart if I'm pleasing my heavenly Father.
If a person believes in the bible they don't need a man made religion to get them life everlasting, all they have to do is read the NT and they know what is required. One either acts on it or they don't. Whats so difficult about that.
The WT, the catholic church, the baptist, the penticostals, no religion can save you, only you can save yourself.
Reneaa, if your so bent on being a true JW, why are you here? Your not likely to convert any one here back to being a JW. So you are going against the WT teachings by being on an apostate forum. People here could cause you to stumble. Are you above that teaching? If they found out you were here, what would happen to you? Will an elder go easy on you? How about a JC hearing?
The trouble with JWs, none of them are on the same page. They all do what they want to do, but still like to tell others what they can and can't do.
In fact, its not just the JW's, its all man made religions. I don't need them, I only need Christ as my savour.

by jetery ini remember there was this heavy metal group called wasp.
some of the witnesses said it stood for we are satans people and that wasnt even true.
stairway to heaven by led zeppelin was a no-no because they said if u played it backwards it talked about worshipping the devil.

Jehovah's Witnesses Can Only Do What They're Told
by minimus inif a witness is instructed to be separate from the world, they will follow the order.
but if they are told to be helpful to their neighbor and make them a meal if they are sick, they'll follow the instruction.. if the organization rules that it is compassionate to help a disfellowshipped person in real need, then jws will help out a disfellowshipped motorist who is stuck in the road.
but if the watchtower decides that we should treat them as "dead", then we ignore the person.. if the "truth" teaches that accepting a heart transplant is "cannibalistic" then it's better to refuse such an operation and please jehovah to your death.

My Brother In Law just died tonight.
by AK - Jeff inhe was 51. we had not been close in the past few years.. he suffered from a rare ailment called sarcoid.
it can afflict several organs of the body, but in his case, it affected his brain.
it caused swelling, and subsequent issues from that.

Snapped. It just occurred to me that I REALLY hate my life. Mostly all of it.
by easyreader1970 inhere lately, i have just been wishing that i could just fast-forward through my remaining years on earth and just die to get this nonsense all over with.. i have only myself to blame.
if i had gone through with my attempt to leave this hokey religion about sixteen years ago when i attempted to--before i got married and had kids--then maybe i wouldn't be teetering on the very slippery edge of sanity.
instead i punked out, buckled under the threats of shunning and guilt of abandoning family members, and so here i am--looking into the mirror every morning wondering when the nightmare is going to end.

I too feel so sorry for what your feeling. Why is it everyone buckles down to the JW? What right does any individual have over another? Why can't it be the opposite? Why can't you make her life miserable instead of her making your's miserable?
Maybe if she see's your more in control of your own thinking and you voice it strongly, maybe she will be the one to back down. Instead of her shoving it down your throat, why don't you just start shoving how you feel down hers? They want to shun you for that, maybe you could be the first to do the shunning, tell them not to talk to you till they can find a way to reason with you!
They are shutting you out when they are not open to any discussion, tell them, you won't hear anything about the jw's till they are willing to let you give some balance to what they are teaching. You will listen to their point of view only when they will hear your point of view.
I get so angry at this cult, I'm venting, you need to vent too, it helps to get things off your chest for the moment.
