700 million babies to be slaughtered
by hamsterbait inthe world population increases by 70 million each year.. this means that on the day armageddon strikes, at least 700 000 000 babies under the age of 10 wil be slaughtered.. 192 000 of these will be less than 24 hours old, many of them killed with their head barely hanging out of their mothers vagina.. how can the witlesses love a god that would do this - even long for it??.
it strikes me that for the witlesses morality is entirely relative.. i well remember the kingdumb song: "some paint god cruel" (wt does!!!).

There is so much evidence around us to prove an Intelligent creator.
by nicolaou inthat's an 'ever so slightly' adapted quote from tophat on another thread; http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/108341/2880755/post.ashx#2880755.
i've been really dismissive of god/s, religion, faith and the abandoning of reason but when it comes to the 'argument from design', well you just have to give it a bit more .

I pretty much live not worrying about it. My mind cannot conceive of something always existing (the Yahweh deity), nor can I conceptualize something coming from nothing (the Big Bang). It hurts my brain to try to figure out. Tangible evidence suggests the latter, but human nature and its desire to believe the unbelievable suggests the former.
But I do like to ask fellow Witnesses if they believe in life on other planets in the universe. Because they are astronomically limited, they assume I mean our star system.
They say no.
Then I ask why Jehovah made the universe so infinitely large if only to put people on a speck of a speck.
No answer.
Why are all the stars there?
The Bible says they are there for light and for use to awe at.
But over 99.9% of the universe we can't even see!
Silence.

The letter of changing the book study
by JWRESEARCH ini had a second and a third chance to read the famous letter.. here a few details.
it starts by saying we are in the last days and those who oppose are making things more difficult.
adds that the gb wants to follow the 1st century example (not to add more burden) and quotes acts 15:5,28. mention the raise of gas price (and the dificulties of some families) and suggest to use the free night to family study.

When I was eleven years old, I asked an elder how Jehovah could have always existed. He could not answer that question in a satisfactory manner.
To date, nobody has. Does he exist outside of the time-space continuum? If so, wouldn't he still have had to have a beginning? What the hell was he doing before he decided to create the Universe? Was there another failed universe before this one where everyone rejected Christ and he had to kill everybody in it and start completely over from scratch?

Why did Abel offer "fatty pieces" to Yahweh?
by easyreader1970 infrom my understanding--at least from my instruction from the wbts--humans were not permitted to eat meat by yahweh until after the flood.
if that is true, then why would abel offer tasty, delicious "fatty pieces" to yahweh?
how would abel even know how to cut up an animal for food and know which parts were the best for eating?.

Did Yahweh eat meat but not humans? If so, do you think that he preferred steak sauce or Worcestershire sauce?

Won't the "Big" Announcement be made BEFORE Sunday April 27
by RubaDub ineveryone keeps mentioning about the sunday april 27 date as "the" date.. however, in many cities that have multiple congregations in the same kh, there are meetings on saturdays also.. in our kh (and many others locally) there are 5 congregations in the kh.
three congregations have their meetings on sunday and two on saturday,.
so unless the instructions are such that the letter can't be read before april 27, it should very well be public on saturday (actually friday if you take into consideration countries in earlier time zones).. rub a dub.

I am not sure what the big announcement really is other than any of the speculations we have been talking about, but this past Tuesday night (the night of our TMS/SM) they said that there will be an elder's meeting "immediately before" the public talk on Sunday (thirty minutes before). He repeated to the elders the importance of remembering that the meeting was before the meeting and not after.

How "Bible Prophecy" Will Soon Be Disproven!
by metatron init's very simple: all this 'prophetic' ( or pathetic) nonsense about "anglo-america" is going to come to an end in a few years.. china has already become the world's biggest exporter:.
http://www.manufacturingnews.com/news/06/0905/art1.html.
in ten years, they will become the largest economy - with the biggest population.

As in the case of the "generations" doctrine, most Witnesses don't spend an incredibly amount of time trying to intellectualize and conceive the finer points of the whole world power thing. The Society knows this and it would not be difficult for them to have "new light". Think about it. If you can change the "generations" doctrine, which is basically the cornerstone the entire religion, and nobody even blinks an eye, imagine how many other things can be changed to fit the current state of the world.
Regarding the generations change, a person who was an independent thinker would reason:
Hmm. People born in 1914 or who were around to see the events of 1914 are dying out. Soon they will all be dead. There really is no indication that the world is about to end. It's going on exactly as it has been for thousands and thousands of years. What's going to happen when all of the remaining anointed are dead? What's this? Now they say that there will always be anointed on the earth and, furthermore, the cutoff date is apparently no longer 1935. This has been set up to continue indefinitely!

the TRUTH about DISFELLOWSHIPPING and SHUNNING from JESUS view
by Terry inloving and forgiving are a huge component of jesus' message to his disciples.. in answer to the question as to how many times forgiveness should be offered to an offender, jesus gave the reply, "seventy (times) seven.
" (variously interpreted as either 77 times or a multiple of 70 times 7).. an example is given of a man who owed a considerable sum of money whose debt was forgiven.
this man failed to forgive a much smaller debt owed to him.

Good points, Terry.....Paul's words hold much more weight than Jesus', though.
And THAT is something I have never understood.

If you were the deity, would you demand to be showered with gutted animals?
by easyreader1970 ini have always been a bit confused by this.
i can understand why a deity would want and demand respect.
i can similarly understand why a deity would want and demand loyalty.

I have always been a bit confused by this. I can understand why a deity would want and demand respect. I can similarly understand why a deity would want and demand loyalty. I can understand why a deity would want and demand obedience. These are things that we, as humans, can easily understand, especially if you have children.
What I don't understand is the deity's desire and demand to be worshipped. Why would he need for his creations to make sacrifices to him and to sing praises to him and to tell him what a wonderful father he is? I appreciate it when my kids tell me that they love me but I could never envision myself telling them that every Wednesday I demand that they sing praises to me. I would hope that they would shower me with adoration because they wanted to, not because I told them to or I would set them all on fire. There are ways that my own children can show that they love me without their bowing down and kissing my hand as they walked through the front door in some sort of ritual.
