the jw's must not trust their members or at least don't have too much faith in them when it comes to being alone around member of the opposite sex.
i can remember one time in particular from when i was a teenager that still makes me laugh today.. when i was younger i used to go out in service on a regular basis during the week when i had summer break.
one time when i met for service there were only two other people that showed up.
I wonder if my wife remembers all the times her little brother chaperoned with us. I know we had to practically PLED with him to join us or we didn't get to see each other for another week.
Then there's the question ... who is supposed to pay for the chaperones meal and movie?
bizzybee's comment about the elders encouraging her at 19 to marry the 40+ yr old widow with 4 kids made me remember similar stuff.. the elders encouraged me as a young brother to stay single.
some of the younger sisters seemed to like me, but the friends in the congregations i visited always wanted me to marry the weird ones.
they called them "spiritual.
Quite the opposite.
After I was baptised, I was allowed to date my JW sweetheart (with the permission of her JW family) and their youngest son as our chaperone ... two years later, I ask her to be my wife. Well, I announce to the elder who studied with me that I was engaged to be married and the look on his face could be compared to telling him he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He took me to the side and said, "Is her father an elder?" No. "Well, then there is a spiritual problem with that family. I have high hopes for you to go to Bethel." Needless to say, he never spoke to me again when I refused to take his counsel. I got married, but this elder refused to attend. Even years later, he would snub me at the assemblies.
i never felt comfortable knocking on door and i hoped no one would be home.
my presentation was short and to the point because i did not want to get into discussions.
as we walked from "door to door" i secretly wished i could be like all the ones i saw in the nighborhood.
I couldn't wait until break time and hoped it was an extended one.

hi i have been on a few days - im not sure how it all works but heres my history - maybe people can relate to it... well basically when i was nine years old my brother died from an epileptic fit.
there were four of us, the eldest who died, another brother, me and my younger sister.
shortly after the witnesses came knocking on my mums door.
I can't imagine dealing with all that emotional baggage. I admire your strength and courage to escape the Watchtower cult.

there are patients in the waiting area, so i couldn't shred them, without making a seen.. last time we were there, there was an awake in the lab waiting area.
it's very important; that, if you see any of this trash, laying around anywhere, deposit it in the nearest trash can.
Don't throw those away! They make good puppy pee-training mats.

There's no problem for outsiders to join the Watchtower, but for a Jehovah's Witness to check out another religion is an automatic disassociation.
the title says it all.. what arguments have you heard in people trying to defend the org in saying they are 'spirit directed but the writers and gb are not spirit inspired'?.
i have never seen much of a difference.

hi, i'm 49 and have been an inactive witness for years now.
i was baptized at age 16 about 33 years ago mainly to please my parents and to fit in, cuz everyone was doing it.
and i was able to answer all those questions in the organization book because i have a near photographic memory, as it turns out.
