  How Can Jehovah be Perfect If We Aren't?

  something that was said at the meeting yesterday made me think about this.

  you know how the organization is always using the illustration of the broken mold and how adam could only pass on imperfection to his children because now he was imperfect.

  how do they rationalize the fact that a perfect creator made people who were capable of making an imperfect choice?

  It's really just as simple as a text not being original with the bible. The concepts of the bible in the Hebrew mostly originate with Egyptian thinking. The Greek concepts were mostly generated from a conglomeration of folklore, mainly that of Persian influence.

  The fact of the matter is that much of it is inspirational in some way, and for that, I am grateful to still have access to the way many people of ancient cultures thought and lived. If anything, the biblical drama is a good tool to keep simply to look into how the ancient cults and religious institutions thought and acted. We have come a long way since then, of course.

  I somehow doubt that man would drum up the selfless teachings though found in the ancient texts despite where they're originating from.

  For instance, the concept of giving up all your possessions and leading a truly humble life (something that very few professed Christians actually do) is a feat that no man on his own accord would devise. That comes from the far eastern meditation mountain men. Of course they lived in a much more serene environment, at peace with their high altitude and even higher level of thinking. The western world mentality at least could never come up with such a humble concept.

  I would gambit that much of the Persian influence on the NT has quite a bit to do with it's outcome.

  The idea is that the character is perfect until he/she/it/god does something against the standard. God could very easily violate his own standard but chooses never to do so, and never has. That makes his record perfect. Adam was given the same gift, created perfect, also with the ability to choose to do that which is wrong in the eye of the one who created him. Adam chose to do something wrong, and violated his creator's premises.

  You could argue that humans are more experienced with sin and imperfection than God is though, so there's something humans have that God never did.

  OF course later on this biblical god commits all sorts of hypocrisies, (i.e, teaching Moses "not to kill" then ordering an army of Israelites to slaughter all kinds of people).

  who does Jehovah hold accountable?

  an elder once told me "that if the spiritual food he recieves is wrong, and he follows it ,jehovah will not hold him accountable".

  all through out the bible it incourages a person to test, ask and seek, and to make sure of all things, so how can he not be accountable ?.

  what is the best scripture that would show him that he's accountable for what he recieves.

  Some more loving words of "Jesus" (I usually put the word in quotes because it is debatable as to whether he actually existed or not)....

  All about Shelby

  i wanted to post this thread about shelby.. she get's a lot of grief by what she posts on this site, so i thought i would start a post on how shelby has helped ones that have left the borg.. i can't begin to explain how shelby has helped me, i felt like i was in a hole and she gave me answers to the many questions i had.

  no matter how many emails i bombarded her with, she always took the time to answer.

  yes there has been times when i haven't liked what she posted, but i asked christ to help me understand and he did...... shelby helped me to open my mind and come to the realisation that the borg can no longer stop me from becoming the beautiful person i was destined to become.. i think i speak for many when i say thank you shelby!!!!.

  I probably meant to relay that I don't think anyone should be pushing their religious feelings on others. Anyone is free to post whatever they want here regarding their faith and religion, of course. I just get so tired of people evangelizing, especially about eschatology.

  i'd like to publicly ask you about a few things.

  i notice in a lot of your posts you talk about your "faith".. can you define exactly what "faith" is though?

  Tec, thanks for the warm welcome. While at times I feel compelled to exert what may seem anti-religious behavior in general, I want everyone here to know that I do have "faith" in God, because even with my new calling to Deism, which doesn't have a "Jesus" but rather just the belief in a creator that does have a positive or negative force in my life depending on how I treat others, I still have the utmost respect for people that remain comforted by the bible gospels and the real meat of the scriptures that can apply to people today, (i.e, the sermon on the mount, Galatians Chapter 5, Hebrews chapter 11, etc)....

  Perhaps I am swayed more by the New Testament than anything else in the bible, that much is certain with the exception of proverbs. I still read the wise words of those ancient Israelite Kings who learned many lessons in life in those days.

  If I were to describe my faith in God, it would be that of belief in a wise creator, without the need to back him with human books.

  My favorite "loving, peaceful" words from sweet Jesus were always these forgiving kind statements in Revelation....

  Rev 2:20 But I have this against thee, that thou sufferest the woman Jezebel, who calleth herself a prophetess; and she teacheth and seduceth my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

  I might add that the bible doesn't "teach" anything. It's merely a book abused by religious authorities over the years. There is absolutely not one shred of historical evidence from a contemporary historian proving even the existence of a figure known as "Jesus". So for all the people out there that like to use the bible as an authoritative document, they need to first prove, (somehow) that the figures are historical and the writings are not second hand. Since we don't know who wrote any of it, have no access to any it's original documents, the earliest copies of copies we have are dated nearly 200 years after the time period they allegedly take place in.

  Believe in yourself. Question all forms of authority. Think for yourself.

  Then he's just a troll. Actually, since we don't know the troll's gender, he's an it. Or do we know it's gender? For some reason I'm reminded of a Simpson's character and naturally and quite arrogantly assign him the title of "he"....

  god creates man in his image, man imagines god to be the best version of him or her self.. does either have any possibility?.

  if all our thoughts about god are limited, and i think most jw's would somberly nod their heads to that, then wouldn't it likewise be true to say that you can evaluate the contrapositive of the same and conclude that the god that made us, if the case is such is rather limited as well?.

  Right, plants commit to photosynthesis, as a result of the sun's light. Yes the sun has been here as long as people have been able to use it to see. It's probably not going anywhere. Without it we die, with it we live. Doesn't take much genius to realize it's the source of life.
