  Painfully Long Prayers on the last day of the 3-day Conventions.

  anyone else hate this practice?

  uve been sitting all day 4 three days @ this place and u just wanna hurry up and finish ur cleaning assignment so u can go out to eat w/ ur friends, but bro.

  special speaker from bethel/or do has to give a one man symposium during his prayer recapping every single moment of the past 3 days.. its like they have this formula that they use to determine how long a prayer should be.

  Its like they have this formula that they use to determine how long a prayer should be.

  Meeting for field service prayers can b really short b/c the meeting for field service is only 15min.

  BookStudies r an hour so the prayer must be 3 to 4 times as long as a FS prayer.

  Sundy Meeting prayers r almost 2 hours so the prayer has 2 be double the length of the BS prayer.

  District Conventions r almost 20 hours so the concluding prayer must be 10 times the lenght of a Sunday Meeting Prayer.

  I wish someone would just walk up to the podium and say, "Thank u God for everything. In Jesus name. Amen." That would be perfect cuz gods omniscient so he knows what ur thanking him 4. lol.

  Yeah, I watched it on utube and it was ridiculous. That Julius guy knew she was a christian so why would he take her to the Coloseum? That doesn't even make sense. Hardly plausible.

  Between the overly materialistic girl and her "humble" friend I found myself sympathizing much more w/ the "material" girl. lol. They sure managed to infuse the JW's thinly veiled self-rightousness into that "humble" girl's character. lol

  Arrived late and left early. Breaking point was the Baptismal Talk. About 40 were getting baptized. Of those I would say 20 were between the ages of 9 and 12. Knowing that by the time they r 25 @ least half of those will be disfellowshiped or shunned for not staying commited to a decision they were 2 young to make in the first place just sickens me. Looking forward to the "DRAMA" tomorrow though. Id better get there early for decent parking cuz everybody shows up for the "DRAMA". lol.

  Anyone w/ half a brain or any knowledge of the recent history of the Republican Party in this country knows that his race will be used as a wedge issue just as easily as Gay marraige has been used. Even though neither party is perfect the GOP has proved time again to be disgustingly bigoted and prejudiced. They may not make his race an official talking point but they will use it when campaigning against him.

  LIBERTY!!!! rotflmao. I was wondering if this was a mockumentary @ some points b/c I could believe it was real. The way those ladys looked @ him w/ those wide-eyes.

  That boy should have gone up to "Jesus" house and taken his clothes off too and said God told him that they needed to lie naked 2gether. Since the guy claims he has to do whatever God says I wonder what excuse he would have invented to get out of that. lol

  Have u found friendships w/ worldy people be hard?

  so, i'm embarking on slow fade and i think it's time for me to start making friends w/ some non-jdubs so that i'll have a support network once i decide to be completely out and everyone ive ever known abandons me.

  ive always gotten along much better w/ wordly people than jdubs so i'll haveno problem securing friends but im concerned about being to keep them.. i want out of the org for various reasons but i must admit i still believe many of the teachings.

  i just think the leadership and organization itself is corrupt.

  so, i'm embarking on slow fade and i think it's time for me to start making friends w/ some non-jdubs so that i'll have a support network once i decide to be completely out and everyone ive ever known abandons me.

  ive always gotten along much better w/ wordly people than jdubs so i'll haveno problem securing friends but im concerned about being to keep them.. i want out of the org for various reasons but i must admit i still believe many of the teachings.

  i just think the leadership and organization itself is corrupt.

  Noontide,

  I appreciate all of these reponses but I really like yours especially. I kinda get the vibe from others that Im expected to forget everything about who I am and who I was raised to be just b/c I have decided to choose a different course in my life. Im not someone who became a jbud later in adult life. It was something I was born into. Im never going to be comfortable celebrating things that I was taught were wrong and there is some basis to support this view biblically depending on interpretation. So, the idea in your comment to leave it up to others to decide but not make a big deal out of it resonates w/ me. I think being trained as a jdub to make every occasion when ur beliefs r inquired about into some great "informal witness" is a habit I'll need to train myself out of. When I think about it there r so many people across the world who don't celebrate these holidays b/c they r too poor or they arent christian and its not apart of their culture so I would think I could find a group of people out there who aren't going to take offense @ me not buying a xmas present for them. I mean there are 362 days out of the year that aren't x-mas, or their b-day, or valentines when I could get them something 2 make up 4 it and spend time w/ them. Thanx for the advice.

For example, even when I leave I don't think I could ever celebrate b-days or Christmas or Valentines. Just cuz Id no longer be a witness doesn't mean Id embrace all the things the world does. So, for those who r out could u tell me how its been having friends? I know holidays r important to worldy people and they sometimes feel hurt or offended if u dont accept gifts from them or give them presents. These r important moments in their lives and they expect a true true friend to celebrate these occasions w/ them. And what about relationships? Not getting ur lover something from Valentines day is like a death blow to relationships in the world. Do I have to change everything about who I am to fit in? Have any of u found a circle of friends who accepts u even w/ these beliefs or did just decide to join them?
