Can anybody put a value on this guys package at Bethel, I mean what would any RF have to earn to have the same comfort level which I imagine would reqire a good college education. What was his credentials before becoming one of the GB. This question must apply to all in their priveledged position.

Even active witnesses think this is way over the top.....
by yourmomma inthere were gasps after watching this.
i heard the anti college talks at the dc this year, and while many people i know didnt agree with them, this following video stunned many of them.
there are many people on this forum, many have gotten to where they are many different ways.

Hold them accountable but with human decency
by milligal inrecently i wrote, and re-wrote (and re-wrote and...you get the picture) a letter to my entire family 8 living siblings, 5 of them jw and my witness parents one of whom believes himself to be anointed.
before sending it i asked my older sister who is also df'd like me, to critique it.
she decided that she would like to add her name to the letter also, a little more bang for the buck coming from two of us.

A great book I am reading and would recommend to you and all JWs ex or still in is 'Mistakes were made'(but not by me) by Tarvis and Arunson, it points to self justification as behind the dissonance which exists in every organisation, family, marriage or friendship, send a copy to those who are shunning you, its an eye opener.

Do JWs miss having large parties, pot-lucks, etc?
by navytownroger inas has been stated before, large congregational get-togethers, cook-outs, baseball games, etc are now greatly discouraged by the society.
back in the 80s in san diego we had parties, night-time beach bonfires, pool parties and frequent restaurant meals with 10+ people.
do current jws seem to miss these sorts of social activities??

i think this has become very personal to individual congregations and to reasonable BoEs, one of our elders organises regular trips for up to 12 rf to wine tasting events and recent parties have been up to 60 + bros n sis. Am organising one at my place for 70 next weekend with games for kids and adults. Someone has to fill the vacuum in our lives. Take the initiative guys, The wedding feast at Cana must have been attended by hundreds in view of the amount of wine available, management was the important word, so always invite the top brass or at least a representative.

by TooBad TooSad inlast week an elder from the platform said at the kh that "when children leave the "truth" it breaks the.
hearts of their parents.

I became a JW at 22 having been raised by good parents with no particular religious beliefs 2 bros and 1 sis who I have almost ignored for 40 years and now feel responsible for the self justification that the org demanded of me to consider them as posile bad association but who have always showed my family love and kindness whenever we have met. They have been called on but never taken any interest. their families are not dysfunctional quite the opposite infact. Good marriages and great kids, more than I can say for many of the witness families I know. This just demonstrates to me that when children leave the truth as my own two girls have done.normality returns to their lives and seeing my grandchildren being raised in a 'normal' home gives me hope and a lot of joy during all my visits, although I am still in, I will never in a zillion years shun my girls whatever the eventual consequences for myself. Perhaps if more people took a stand for this the movement from below might have an impact at the top. Every flip can flop ?

Are active JW's seeing the light?
by boyzone ini ask this because i had a strange experience this week.
for a brief bit of background knowledge i'm being shunned like most on here, but i see witnesses every day in my place of work and at the school gate, there's no avoiding them, and like many of you, i've found it really hard to get over the hurt and heartache this has caused.. yesterday my mum (an active witness) went into hospital to have a tumor removed (successfully) as i'm the only daughter nearby to help, the other witnesses were asking the elders what they were supposed to do if they wanted to visit my mum and i was at her bedside, should they talk to me or turn round and go out again.. one elder said to do that would be utterly ridiculous, of course i should be spoken to.
he was very annoyed even at the suggestion.

Oh I nearly forgot as a result of that newsflash of the NSCFC I have written a letter to the UKs charity commission suggesting they investigate the JWs charitable status in view of this deadful policy which goes counter to the declaration of Human Rights. It strikes me that we dont have much success through the courts as the 'earth' still comes to the JWs aid that makes you wonder how the wild beast will ever do a volte face, maybe a greater level of public awareness needs to be cultivated so that bethel begin to see the incredible damage that the policy is causing in the eyes of joe public as is happening in the case of many of my son in laws family.Who find it hard to believe that such ' nice people' can follow this type of policy.

Have been through a surprising experience, recently had two elders call on me to chat about my being controversial and having bros and sis in my cong wonder If I were verging on apostasy especially as my daughter and son in law were recently dfd and I spent much time with them which hadnt gone unnoticed including moving with them to their new home in the States - and taking my grandsons with them - stinkers.
Had all my service priveledges removed as a result although am not now a ms, was once. However the CO recently visited two weeks ago who has two members of his own family DFD and came to see me with one of the previous elders - result told them to return my priveledges and not be so judgemental. That how I dealt with my family was between me and Jehovah ! Is this approach a softening and issuing from Bethel. Thin end of the wedge ? Many in my own cong have been sympathetic to my situation and are often asking after the family in a genuine way.

Surprise,surprise !
by frisbee inhi guys.
am a relative newbee and still a member of the borg, two weeks ago had 2 elders visit ostensibly to shepherd/correct me for sharing some personal study viewpoints which they heard had upset a bro and sis who had not bothered to contact me in the spirit of matt 18 although according to one of the elders this is one of the most abused scriptures in the bible , the r&f spillling the beans on each other to the boe and the elders listening to any hearsay and then confronting brothers, any experiences ?
also i had been seen visiting my dfd daughter and son in law ( also posters here ) this resulted in my having some basic priveledges removed, assembly attendant, pioneer, regional bc helper.. i wrote a letter of concern and copied to our co who took the time to visit me and in the presence of the elders agreed that their decision was technically wrong and not a demonstration of kindness , also that my relationship with my family was not one for a general judgement but was between my conscience and jehovah, the time i might spend with them was my affair and only if stumbling was to occur within the cong might it be flagged up for further counsel.

I had not expected this stand but was pleasantly surprised. Might the Borg be taking a more lenient stand where family members are concerned. Any experiences.

Emotional Reactions to the Loss of the Book Study
by DT ini think the loss of the book study will hit some like a death of a friend.
it will mark the end of an era.
it will forever change the religion of jehovah's witnesses and i believe the change is completely irreversible.. of course, most witnesses will be delighted by this.

when I look back on the many CBS I attended and took as a past E and MS what stands out is the friends we got closer to, we used to arrange once a quarter meals out or at one anothers homes, just this week we are arranging a picnic for the next holiday weekend and I know this has become practice around our CBS. This will be missed I dont see the same familiarity developing at the KH as we have 150 pubs. It will be a sad day and discouraging but It may make people question ?

could there be a legal aspect to all this problems with home insurance not covering formal religious meetimgs being held in homes where money is contributed or the home being an extension of the KH
