Received letter from wtbs re Vicki Boer
by Gadget ini got 2 replies to my letters this morning.
one was from my local mp saying he had passed my letter to another minister and the foreign and commonwealth office are investigating to see if its an appropriate issue to raise, and the other was from the wbts of britain.
the letter reads as below, and i would appreciate your comments on it, and some good qoutes to include in a reply.. .

Hillary, I loved your post. Well thought out.
As for those who are not going to launch civil action as a result of Vicki's case .... have said this before and I will say it again ... it is so important that people see the good and bad and critically weigh going through one of these lawsuit. There are high highs and low lows and ... you have to testify and be cross examined both at the deposition phase and then at the trial phase. It will take years and many appeals if you win. You have to withstand everything and be prepared to lose which can be a hard thing to do. I always try to recommend that you seek the best legal council possible, such as what Barb Anderson has done in Ed Bell (right "waiting" - snicker) and if you do go forward with the lawsuit you must be prepared to focus on it and take it all the way - not just relying on your counsel or others to guide you.
Vicki's case was a little different than most in that it was a case about the "confrontation" more than the failure to report and protect which a lot of other cases are about and sadly, she received very poor legal counsel, especialy at the trial and costs phases in my not so humble opinion (which was no fault of her).
Anyway just some thoughts. I still want to see a scan of that letter from the the UK Bethal

Watchtower Attorneys Stumped
by jst2laws intoday, october 6, in manchester tennessee the court considered the motion to dismiss petitioned by the watchtower bible and tract society in the case of anderson vs watchtower.
during the hearing for the first time ever the watchtower attorneys were stumped, at a loss for words, silence in the courtroom for what seemed like a 'millennium'.

This should be the easy part of the Anderson case as long as no one was using the bible and focusing on the Watchtower's policy books such as the Flock book. These Summary Judgement motions should hopefully go okay for Mr. Bell's team but who the hell knows after the Berry case.
Depositions and disclosure segment of this case. Yep .... that will be the toughtest and everyone knows it too.
As for the case in Canada (Motte-Trille v. WTS) compared to the case in the USA. I believe in Canada, Motte-Trille used the failure of the WTS to provide "due process" and won. But the Anderson case I believe is using the ... ummmm ... fraudualent actions and the tort of slander/libel (defamation of character) etc. This is something much different.
At least there is no statute of limitations argument in this case.
I wish to thank Ed, Barb, Joe and the others in the legal team for keeping their focus on this case and pressing ahead. This case will take many years but it does have a shot (albeit a very tough shot) at having a positive outcome for those who have been improperly treated, kicked out and shunned by their family and friends.

Well, they are partly right in that letter. As usual the good old "lying by omission" tactics are in full play (and of course Jehovah God says Theocratic Warfare is okay to practice). They convienently left out the fact about the "gag" order, the second offer and of course they left out the fact that the Judge had discretion in s. 43.13 of the regulation.
They also left out the fact that they had to ask for costs in order that the Judge would grant costs.
I really hope this excerise is showing those who want to be JWs and those who are lurking just how evil this leadership is. Blaming it all on the Judge and showing all this sympathy for victims when the WTS's own lawyer had to ask for costs. Who was trying to to use the law to their advantage to get revenge here - eh Kenny boy?
Yeah ... if some idiot in the WTS actually writes this letter in Canada and I get my hands on it ... I know the press will eat it up big time.

Quite frankly I think you make some impartial and excellent observations and I don't think you need to be sorry or apologize. It's important that things be reviewed critically and if can be done better, then so be it.
I would urge you to contact and help Scully and Ex_pat out in the matter.
