WASHINGTON - "President Bush, in advocating that the concept of 'intelligent design' be taught alongside the theory of evolution, puts America's schoolchildren at risk," says Fred Spilhaus, Executive Director of the American Geophysical Union. "Americans will need basic understanding of science in order to participate effectively in the 21st century world. It is essential that students on every level learn what science is and how scientific knowledge progresses."
In comments to journalists on August 1, the President said that "both sides ought to be properly taught." "If he meant that intelligent design should be given equal standing with the theory of evolution in the nation's science classrooms, then he is undermining efforts to increase the understanding of science," Spilhaus said in a statement. "'Intelligent design' is not a scientific theory." Advocates of intelligent design believe that life on Earth is too complex to have evolved on its own and must therefore be the work of a designer. That is an untestable belief and, therefore, cannot qualify as a scientific theory."
"Scientific theories, like evolution, relativity and plate tectonics, are based on hypotheses that have survived extensive testing and repeated verification," Spilhaus says. "The President has unfortunately confused the difference between science and belief. It is essential that students understand that a scientific theory is not a belief, hunch, or untested hypothesis."
"Ideas that are based on faith, including 'intelligent design,' operate in a different sphere and should not be confused with science. Outside the sphere of their laboratories and science classrooms, scientists and students alike may believe what they choose about the origins of life, but inside that sphere, they are bound by the scientific method," Spilhaus said.

I though maybe the following may help:
Scientific theories are validated by empirical testing against physical observations. Theories are not judged simply by their logical compatibility with the available data. Independent empirical testability is the hallmark of science—in science, an explanation must not only be compatible with the observed data, it must also be testable. By "testable" we mean that the hypothesis makes predictions about what observable evidence would be consistent and what would be incompatible with the hypothesis. Simple compatibility, in itself, is insufficient as scientific evidence, because all physical observations are consistent with an infinite number of unscientific conjectures. Furthermore, a scientific explanation must make risky predictions— the predictions should be necessary if the theory is correct, and few other theories should make the same necessary predictions.

Well said running man and heathen please start reading with an open mind to understand how science works.
BTW a scientist needs "facts" that are observable. A scientific theory explains the "facts".
One other point I noted. Someone stated the following regarding the grand canyon:
No Way it is made up of Granite Rock that could not have eroded in 40 day's I don't care how much water went over it.
If memory serves I thought it was made up of sandstone bedrock. Sandstone is a sedimentary rock that consists of sand textured sized particules has have been "cemented" with either silca mineral (quartz) or a calcium mineral (Calcite). Sedimentary rock forms when sediments (eg. cobbles, sand, silt and/or clay), deep within the earth undergo extreme pressure and heat. These sediments get deep within the earth due to tens to hundreds of thousands of years of deposition. Sandstone is usually a very hard type of bedrock.
Interestingly and if memory serves, at the very bottom of the grand canyon you will find metamorphic and igneous bedrock of the Canadian Shield. Some igneous rock of the Canadian Shield can be plutonic in nature and thus, forming Granite. The Canadian Shield is primarily exposed to the earth's surface in northern Manitoba, middle to northern Ontario, Quebec and part of the Northeasten U.S. States thanks to the four glaciation events over the last 120,000 years or so.
Either way the so-called great flood would not have caused the grand canyon erosion process.

Honestly,
You are correct. One only has to read the DPI Directory publications to figure that out.
One final point that I will say over and over and over and over.
The WTS of New York has and always will be a non governmental organization (NGO) (ie. a not for profit corporation). To say it is not is a false statement.
The WTS was accredited as an "associated NGO" with the UN's DPI" by the United Nation's Department of Information (DPI) committee in 1992. This was a partnership.
At the request of the WTS, the UN's DPI "disassociated" the WTS and thus lost its "associated" NGO status in October 2001.
To this day, the WTS remains an NGO.

Thank you for your kind comments and thank all of you for all of the ideas.
I sent my letter via Email to PBS instead of the Corporation for PBS since the documentary was to air on PBS. CPBS includes other government funded broadcasting which includes but is not limited to NPR etc.
Either way I think the message will get there seeing I sent it to the president and vice-presidents of PBS. If they are anything like the government, the particular branch re-directs the letter to the correct branch for a response.
I note that as of today I have not heard back from the knocking producer who I copied on the Email.
We shall see what happens.
