  smell of cigars

  i recall about 15 years ago, i had a semi heated discussion with my cousin about cigars.

  i maintained that there would be nothing wrong with having cigars just for the smell, never lighting them, or lighting them and letting them burn while you're not around.

  some have a very pleasant smell.

  i maintained that there would be nothing wrong with having cigars just for the smell, never lighting them, or lighting them and letting them burn while you're not around.

  some have a very pleasant smell.

  I smoke a genuine "Cuban" Cigar (Montecristo) at least once a week.

  Can't beat it for just chilling out.

  Chris,

  I was born and raised in.

  I have 3 kids under 10 years old that go with Mom.

  I realize the damage that is being done and spend all my energies getting them out in what I consider to be the least damaging way I can.

  My point is, "They went once"

  They are not part of this cult. One time will not damage them beyond repair.

  I am someone who has nothing nice to say about this religion.

  However, to automatically assume these kids are now damaged goods for going to a KH one time, contributes to those who say us "apostates" are crazy.

  And to your statement that I am contributing to the problem could not be further from the truth. I have stated before I have helped 2 people leave this religion and 1 stop studying in the last 6 months. These people only listened because my arguments were sensible.

  Now if MJ's kids are in the custody of an active JW, I could see having a completely different viewpoint.

  They went to the Kingdom Hall once.

  I understand that most of us, including myself, have been damaged by this religion.

  But seriously, a couple times in the KH isn't going to wreck their lives.

  Most "wordly" people just consider this a continuation of the wackiness of the Jackson family.

  i finally broke my silence yesterday in a discussion with my mom.

  for months now i have been dropping hints here and there that i am not pleased with many things happening in the org, but i would always present it from a concerned jw prospective.

  my wife wants us to remain closet jw's because she has bigger reservations of displeasing her family than i do, and wants to continue playing the game.. yesterday however my wife wasn't around, and for the 100th time my mom was ragging on me for attending one of my best friend's weddings because he was marrying a non jw, and the fact that his df'd brother was there.

  To be fair...

  The JW's are far less "crazy" than what they have been exposed to.

  Keep in mind they are just innocent kids. Any stability will help them.

  As for the pedophile comments, I would let my kids go to the KH before I would let them sleep at MJ's house.

  i had a huge light bulb on moment as i wasy in therapy dealing with a nasty anxiety disorder for many years and having a huge trigger in my life finally silenced.

  it was almost the last thing that i thought i would end up doing expecially if you asked my wife and myself even a year before our decision to " live " thats how i view it not decision to leave...........it was a decision to live.. .

  my therapist psychiatrist asked me who are you?

  While preparing a public talk on prophecy, it occurred to me that this religion has not gotten much right at all and uses the "new light" as wiggle room.

  Added to that, the cultish following accepts anything without the ability, permission or forum to ask questions.

  It is amazing what happens when you really "put these things to the test".

  someone who shall remain nameless (*cough*snowbird*cough) mentioned she has never been to a bar.. this shocks me.. i was remembering how terrified i was of going to a bar when i was exiting the mother ship.

  i was looking for the lightning bolts to get me.

  and it was a big nothing really.

  I would pray for holy spirit-then walk in with a handful of literature and speak the "truth" to these worldlings until I was asked to leave. Where else could you get Time @ 11pm?
