The JW atypically responded without addressing any challenge.
The one response that was humorous was whwebn given the list of characteristics of a cult, the JW said that that could describe any number of organizations, not just JW's. They never can accept the fact, that by almost any definition, they ARE a cult.
Oh well, Just a little more chasing their tail.

i'm good at the pity party, can have fantastic events of this because i'm the guy that has to remind himself everything is getting better.. i was in a good one for a few weeks lately, but then i realized i don't have much to be sad about.
compare to where i was 6 years ago, my life is far better than i ever could have imagined.

i was raised southern baptist, but i never could get into it.

i pretty much know this is not the truth but am still undecided how i feel on various issues and i am still sorting them out.

I was in a very similar situation last year. My wife knew how I felt and expressed it to an elder in our KH. This Elder was not only a family member but also the best man in ny wedding. Our kids are also best of friends. When he said he wanted to talk my response was;
"I want you to understand there are some things bothering me. I am not ready to express these thoughts as any misinterpretaion by you could put you in a position that you will not be comfortable with. Once I sort some things out in my own mind be assured I will rely on you for help. Until then, please respect me as an uncle and friend."
I never went back to meetings and still talk to him weekly. He got the point. As long as I wasn't vocal he would be cool.
i know a lot of people were upset when mash ended.
i never was a big fan of the show, probably because it was on a meeting night, but it was a very popular show.. i loved hill street blues, taxi, all in the family, the rifleman, even superman!
i wished those shows never stopped!.
John Doe, Scrubs is still on. It's on ABC now.
I miss Friends, Cheers, Wings, Seinfeld and every other Thursday show I saw when skipping a Thursday night meeting.

having a look through the march wt pdf and noticed the graph showing the growth of jws and did a little basic math.
now math was not my strongest subject at school so i can stand some correcting on this if need be... but anyway, a little fun with numbers:.
1970; 1'483'000 is a growth of about 390% (av 19.5% per year).
The quality and quantity of real field service is definitely down.
I drove by the KH yesterday(Sat.) morning at 9:30 a.m. The weathr was 72 degrees F. not a cloud in the sky.
Four congregations meet at that hall. There was maybe 10-12 cars in the parking lot.
My first thought was,"Doesn't anyone go out in service anymore"?
Back in the 70's there would have been well over a 150 people out from 4 congregations.
Now that Mom gets free time with the kids, the hours on the slip go up and the hours in the field go down!
why are americans so paranoid about the government?.
please understand im in no way trying to be disrespectful to your country im just trying to understand why their seams to be an outcry every time someone mentions the government legislating over something eg healthcare.
although i dont trust our pollies i would never withdraw my support without at least reading the legislation first.
If the U.S. goverment was run as a private business, it's stocks would be worthless. The goverment is growing too big, too fast.This is the recipe for business failure. Disregarding the policies and programs that are being implemented, the changes cannot be managed proprerly.
In general, govermant employees are not the cream of the crop, if so, they would be working for far more compensation in the private sector.
This is not meant as an Obama or democrat bash, but if he was running a private firm he would be ousted already due to his lavish spending and minimal results.

Depends on who asking.
If it is a "worldly" person, "I am NOT a JW. JW's are a cult and unfortunately my parents are involved in it".
If it is JW- "I am just inactive". Wear the title of "inactive" with pride and they get very confused, but they can't shun you.
one of the things that made me start doubting the wtbts and jws was the way jws treat their jw employees.. i worked for jws several times.
the experience was always the same.. 1. pay was less than the going market rate for the same work at "worldly" companies.. 2. there were no benefits of any kind, no paid holidays, no sick time, no overtime, no insurance.. 3. whenever possible the jw forced the jw employees to pay their own company related expenses like gas, pager, company uniform, etc.. 4. any attempt to discuss the poor working conditions was always responded to with "but you get to make all the meetings and you get to go to the assemblies and you get to work for brothers.
" and, if you said "i would go to meetings regardless of who i worked for" and pushed back on that answer then they started in on your "loyalty" and you were unspritual if you questioned a "brother" and were not "loyal" to your employer.. 5. any attempt to find another job was met with harassment, being told you could not give the jw employer as a reference, being threatened with lawsuits, etc.. 6. the jw employers themselves were lazy and would not do the things they expected of their jw employees.. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------.
On the flip side- I was a JW employer. My witness employees made more, worked less and felt entitiled.
Also, many in the congo knew my personal business that really was none of their business.
It does go both ways. ( it also shows how this religion screws people up)
I will never knowingly hire a JW again!
