I think more aptly put is that this board is "HISTORY". JWN has yet to show how user friendly it is .

I think they did figure it out in the heiroglyphs that showed the stones on a sled and some guy pouring out oil or water to lubricate a giant sled . All you need is discovery channel .LOL

What do you think of the Wise Men NOW!
by wobble ini have just been watching the carols and readings from kings college cambridge,england, bloody marvellous!.
a couple of times they have referred to the visit of the wise men, i wonder what you guys make of this,it always seemed to me a strange thing to be in scripture,the visit of some devout presumably zoroastrian seers.
the wt take on this is that "satan used them to try to bring about the death of jesus".

This place sucks!!! (kidding there of course) I can say I've seen some very interesting posts ,don't know how much of this stuff to believe but if half of it is true the watchtower is very deceitful about things .I think I will hang out on the jwn site for a bit even tho I don't think any of this is really making a difference since the religion itself is growing exponentially , The real estate fraud corporation is building more congs and forcing people to pay mortgages when they still claim not for profit status , they don't trust the members enough to make contributions so they have them free and clear . It made me sick whenever the WTBTS announces it's big change of dropping the interest on the loans ........... That was just in the last couple of months. Everybody got all excited over that one ..

I gotta say the making up of dogma at any given time and then trying to convince others , had this happen to me allot lately , I'm always asking if the "society" says it or it's just an opinion and believe me some of the stuff is ridiculous ,I'm with you on the blood dogma ,Their reasoning doesn't hold water and it is senseless to let people die over it .I think dfing is alright in some cases such as promoting a sect or murder , makes sense to me ,if you are not walking the walk and just talking the talk you are a hypocrite and deserve to be cast out where the weeping and gnashing teeth , yadda yadda

The "Friends"
by cameo-d inwhy is it that jws refer to people from the org as "the friends"?.
sometimes its even used to refer to people in their jw social group.. since "friends" is a quaker term used likewise, how did the jws come to start using that phrase to denote jw members?.

They do love the scripture of friendship with the world is enmity with God so we have to assume it's just a figure of speech amongst themselves , they have had some articles lately that point out that tho jesus condemned everybody and everything (besides the apostles and believers) he was not anti social, sounds like another of those paradoxes

I'm going with it was some sort of apparition created by satan .It wasn't a stationary star ,it moved in front of them ,going to herod first in an effort to kill the youngster jesus ,it did all happen to fullfill the old testament prophesy that there would be a great wailing in Israel and that Jesus would have to be called out of egypt where they went to hide . One would have to ask if herod was stupid for trusting the astrologers to return but I couldn't see God being responsible for the death of all the babies .

Being new we invited 30 brothers over for dinner. We got an invite once?!
by Witness 007 inwhats the deal.
i moved to a new congregation and wanted to slowly each weekend invite all the brothers over to get to know them.
the drill was we had a barbie with red wine and music.

How are they convinced that armageddon is around the corner???
by milligal ini just read another thread about the co changes and plans for upcoming persectution.
i can speak for america and say that out constitution is based on religious freedom-this is the same constitution the society hides behind in all of their 'champion' court cases where they defend their right to go in the door to door ministry.
this country is sooooo far from turning against any religion, that we are even allowing terrorist religions to remain as long as they don't act against anyone (please no thread hijacking about that : ).. how in god's name do the jw's think the government is going to turn against religion and start persecuting them, and armagedon is to follow -right 'around the corner'????.

I would think that anytime a religion has the government shut them down for printing pacifist material during WW1 , is good cause to say they are not well liked . Since then tho probably not so bad with the persecution unless another war starts up that they speak out against and won't support . They were locked away in WW2 as well but the printing presses kept rolling , they didn't support the draft either.
