Church faces $100 Million in Suits
by Amazing inthe resignation of cardinal law of the boston archdiocese has raised the issue of how the 500+ victims will be compensated financially.
the figure of $100 million was stated in the news, and this means either a large liability insurance payout, or bankruptcy for the archdiocese.
this is just """one""" diocese in the united states.

How to Fly Under the Radar
by metatron init's taken me a while to overcome my intense bitterness - but i'm finally mending.. -- and that makes it easier to 'fly under the radar' when meeting witnesses!.
i bumped into a young witness mother at a mall.
i flattered her and told her about.

Good points on the uruly children but on the planning ahead they constantly have it beaten over their heads that they only have to pray to God for the needs of each day.

Baptism Age
by JH indo you feel as if children in the watchtower organization get baptized too early in age?
when you think that in most places, you have to be at least 18 years old to vote, go in a bar, or have a drivers licence.
being told that it was the most important day of our life, wouldn't it be reasonable to wait to be at least 18 years old before getting baptized.

Blondie - I'm only interested in what the first century christians practiced . I have serious doubt in what is practiced today and being recognized as christian. Minimus that is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too young for some one even to be considered for baptism IMO. Interesting post and I do have scriptural evidence that does count women and children out of the baptism ceremony.

I was appalled when I noticed that they were baptizing 12 year olds. After all their crap about being mature enough to accept the responsiblity of upholding the name of Jehovah and Jesus . Baptism I've noticed in the bible is a very contreversial topic . In the Acts of Aposles it is stated that baptism is a washing away of sin and It sounds as though the apostle Paul baptized a woman and all her family .Later on the Apostle Peter says that baptism is not the washing away of sin but an appeal to God for a clean conscience. I really can't understand how they could have baptized women back then on account that they didn't have swim suits and women would have had to have been naked in the site of a male who was not their husband. Any mention of young children being baptized seems to not exist after that , Personally I would have to go with a mature person who is old enough to make their own decision .

Kingpawn- There is no reason to start a flame war over the topic. Yes it would take a UFO landing on my front lawn and extra terrestrials inviting me in to examine it for me to believe in them. I am willing to say there must be some other explaination for the phenomena that some prestigious people claim are UFO's . Wind ,gravity ,electricity ,etc. can all be proven in a laboratory.Sometimes my car stalls as well and it is because of something called a battery or alternator. I am sure there are other explainations for the other things you have described , in short you have not provided any more evidence than I have already discarded as urban legend. I do happen to be a creationist for reasons of my own .I don't see what those comparisons have to do with the subject. Thanks for your replies .

I think the Wt believes that God allows evil to continue in order to prove to mankind that they cannot provide a government that can rival his. Also that he is not inactive but is actively directing his organization at this time in a spiritual way.

Talk: JWs are not go to a gym???
by WingCommander ini remember just a few short years back at my old congregation, there were a few younger brothers and sisters joining gyms and going to work out.
well, i guess the elders found out that everyone's free time wasn't being spent pioneering, so a talk (down to) was given one sunday on "not letting worldy pursuits take your eyes off the prize" or some shit like that.
the whole talk was about how we should devote all time to the wts and field service, and that going to or belong to a gym was just a worldly pursuit and that it was just making or bodies "showy".

That is pretty shocking to hear . I am aware of an elder that they called superman because he was a pretty big guy due to going to the gym at bethel .I really can't see why the gym is demonized . There is nothing better for a person then diet and excercise . I feel like a new man when I leave the gym .As far as the women going to the gym now I could understand the wearing of the tight clothes and bending and stretching in front of men being considered unchristian like but there is always the cosmopolitan lady gym they can attend. I know some of the girls at the gym deliberately try to tease the men and believe me it is very embarrassing at times lol .
