Reagarding her saying "um" a lot....that is what we call in the biz as a "word wisker", that can totally be cured by enrolling her into the theocratic ministry school. :-)
And I am tall and skinny, and I took no offense at the fact that you obviously have a problem with us tall skinny guys. haha :-)

1914 weirdness!
I remember having a bible study years ago, and we got to the part about 1914. We read the paragraph, and in the middle he just looked at me and said: "whaaattt"?? In a very incredulous tone, and shook his head. I couldn't blame him because I thought it was a bunch of malarky too. It just plain sounds weird. I limped my way out of it, and moved on to something positive. He soon quit the study.
He was a very good man. Volunteered with under priviledged children, was a good father etc...but wait!!!, he is going to be one of those guys with the horrified expression falling into the massive crack in the earth, with the orange sky in the background, maybe a few large chunks of skyscraper falling on him at the same time...all because he canceled his study.
so i start thinking about all my "privileges.
" i went to mts, took 600 pages of notes, went to my assignment, i am still serving under the mts program.

because of cognative dissonance, and years of fearing the word apostate, i am actually still afraid to think about it too much.
what brings me some comfort, is the fact that there are aprox.
7 mil witnesses, and out of that number, at least half if not more are "apostates" (my personal guess anyway).

I remember reading a portion of C.of C. and there was a letter sent out to COs and DOs that said basically: even if you had private doubts that you were harboring or you disagreed with anything the WTS officially taught (even privately), then you were apostasizing! ....Amazing!
So the WTS is full of Apostates, they just don't know it! Even a GB member, when he raises his hand during the wed meeting to suggest a new understanding, for that moment he is an apostate...because until it reaches a 2/3 majority vote it is not yet 'new light', and he is disagreeing with current understanding. Quite comical, the whole thing.
ok, so here's my story as it stands right now.

Welcome. I am new too. Very similar story! I am a servant and have been hounded about my time. Why can't they see it just a bunch of 'men pleasing'. It's really strange when you start to wake up.

what hypocrisy after all they printed about the un beast of revelation, and here they were a supporter of it as a ngo.. everyone, should have the facts on hand if needed, and never let the issue die.. outaservice.
Very, very few in my cong know about this (probably the elders, and a select few "evil" internet researchers), I know my wife doesn't...and now it's several years old. I would love so much to watch another Dateline expose about this and other things. It's strange that major US news papers did not pick up on this story that broke in 'The Guardian' (british paper) or maybe a few did?? Seems the media is always looking for a good religious scandel. Library card my ass. Hipocrits!

jgnat - yes, I am pretty good at making excuses...I have backed out of a few parts on the TMS and SM. Fortunately I am able to fly under the radar, we have about 10 MSs. And eventually I will step down for a yet unknown "good reason".

Thanks for the warm welcome! Not sure how often I will be able to post, but I will be around. I will work at fighting the cognitive dissonance, that may tend to kick in every now and then ...what helps with that anyway, besides a shot of vodka and jwd? :-) ahhh life is full of fun surprises!
On another note...here's an amusing anecdote. My good friend, a fully plugged in Elder encouraged me as an MS to sign up for the regional bldg comitee...why? : "because they are training us for the clean-up work after armageddon" - how does one keep a straight face after that?

First, let me say it is scary posting here for me. If my past self could see me now! I am a MS, been so for about 12 years. For the last few pressured to be an Elder. I have been having my own crisis, and have been disolusioned for about a year with the "truth" Seeing the way people are treated (Pharisees!!! Hello!) not to mention the disgusting scandels (UN etc). My wife has no idea, but fortunately is a typical R&F and has no problem missing meetings and service. I am in a really weird place right now, and have been reading this board non stop...I feel sick to my stomach at times, and light headed...This was THE TRUTH! Right!? Dangit. What crazyness. I am so glad there are some very reasonably people here who make great comments. I have just watched the 'missionary interview' by V (with A@G as the interviewee) wow!
It's so interesting too to see the wide range of Elders, former Elders, MSs, R&Fs etc...all with the same anger, and sometimes heartbreak. Thanks for all your comments and expeirences. This is a good place to come for some support. It would be great to hear from some more insiders at Bethel...maybe a CO or DO could join?? ...Just waiting for the whole thing to slowly fade away...
