"The end of this system is just a whisper away..." From a CA talk I think, maybe even from the DC, I can't remember. The really funny thing is I just googled "a whisper away" and it's from a Donna Summer song about heaven. Laugh my ass off!!!
Whatever dolt spoke those words to his poor audiance, he couldn't even think of something original.
I remember last year I heard "we are at the doorstep of the great trib." How many more will there be in the next 10, 25, 50 years...oh my god. So sad.

LURKERS: Is JW the only true religion? Here is my personal research!
by mentallyfree31 inare jehovah's witnesses the only religion teaching the truth?.
the statement that only jehovah's witnesses are teaching the truth is an extraordinary claim.
such a claim would require extraordinary evidence.

Resigned
by Franklin Massey ini finally resigned as an elder.
my conscience wouldn't allow me to continue.
i've battled for years trying to reconcile the fallacies of the wt society with my own personal beliefs.

Thanks for the thread Franklin! Isn't it a relief to step down?! I still cherish wednesday evenings, and not having to cram a lame svc mtg part or school part together (I always did them last min haha)
You mentioned this "If someone is questioning their role in the JW Org, and their search leads them here, I want them to see that many of their sisters, brothers, pioneers, servants and elders have questions and concerns too"
Not that I dont appreciate all experiences here...when I 1st started posting It helped to read posts of x elders and MSs. I'm sure the same goes with lurkers as we are conditioned to look to the older men. So to see that many of them may have doubts as well, makes it easier. IMO.

2011 Circuit Ass.
by tresdecu injust had to endure the saturday session of the latest circ ass program.
during the below symposium each speaker, after talking of some terrible "worldy affliction" that we (as jws) might have succumbed to said in a low dramatic voice : "you...have been contaminated.".
each speaker said this phrase about 3 times ea.

How much longer can the Watchtower survive in its current form???
by doubtful ini find it amazing that a religious movement predicting the end of the world for almost 150 years, still maintains a following!
soon, all the older zealots will be dead, the baby-boomer jws will be old and retired, and the bulk of the jw labor force will consist of all the "worldly music - listening", facebook using, living as close to the edge of wt standards as possible, youth of today.
as they mature, grow older and began to seek social status for themselves among other jws by pursuing appointments like ms and elder, they will probably morph into a replica of their parents.

Good question and one I always have fun speculating on! You're right, within the next 15-20 years the baby boomers will be in their 80s, the old knorr era diehards will be long gone...and all that's left to be the bulk will be as you state "worldly music - listening", facebook using, living as close to the edge of WT standards as possible, youth of today."
That's the class that I'm a part of! Although I'm not the 'youth of today', I still feel youthful in my late 30s. ;-) I like to drink, go to concerts, watch rated R movies, hang out with my workmates etc...and all of this I did while I was a 'spiritual MS' I think things are slowly changing...although the hard core message is the same, it is easily sluffed off by many.
I know of JWs in my hall, that let their kids play sports in Jr High, and HS...one is an MS. And nobody really bothers them about it. When I was young, although my elder dad / pioneer mom were a bit liberal by 80s JW standards, they still would not let me play on our schools soccer team. Today that kind of stuff doesn't really seem to be a big deal. (in my area anyway)
It will be interesting to watch over the next decade, maybe things will change, maybe not. My hope regarding the last part of your post would be to go more mainstream...lay off people!!! Fine, give a sunday talk about being forgiving, that's a good message...have a watchtower study about all in the houshold doing their part within the family...fine, that's ok too. But just F&%*'ing lay off people and kill the lame-ass thursday meeting, and stop the guilt...I'd be ok with that ;-) ok ... over and out. Have a good weekend, and for those poor souls like me who have to endure meeting tomorrow, good luck!

Ex-JW Vicci Martinez on TV Show "The Voice"
by Justitia Themis inthis young woman has an excellent voice.
she and i were in the same congregation.
her family came to my youngest daughter's high school graduation party, and vicci (vickie) sang there.

Sorry I meant "...if her parents supported her" past tense, I realize she said her Dad passed away..and cudos to him if he was a dub, but told her to "follwer her heart." What a gift that would be.

Wow that's so crazy...we watched last night, and when she made that comment I wondered, "what if she was a dub"...knowing that any other religious family would also be hard to come out to. Now I am rooting for her even more!! Thanks for letting us know!
She said she was 16, (I think) when she told her parents...I take it she was never baptized if her parents are supporting her? Does she have contact with her JW mom?
Thanks again JT
