I wonder how many other JWs are on the brink of a drastic descision like this...probably a lot. How sad.

'If your body members you control...'
by Unlearn in'if your body members you control,.
you make known that the truth is your own.'.
this verse in particular from the jw song 'make the truth your own' has provided several instances of hysterical laughter between my wife and i.. just think about it.

I always would wince when these words were sung, and wondered what new ones thought...I was used to the weirdness, but others, why would they stick around? Crazy religion.

Chemicals buried at WT Farms (WT ruining the earth)
by doinmypart init seems that the wt is guilty of illegally dumping printing chemicals (or as they like to say "ruining the earth") in upstate new york.
read the full articles from the news sites below.. "state officials are investigating chemical pollution found buried at an upstate new york property owned by the jehovah's witnesses organization.

The more I read about this, the more excited I become!! I really hope this doesn't fizzle out. With all the hypocritic words of condemnation printed in the past, this has the makings of a scathing 60 minutes segment. Please oh Please

question for older ex-elders
by scooterspank ini have only just begun to talk to my father about why he left the truth.
i know why he stepped down as an elder many years ago but we have just scratched the surface about why he "faded" in his 60's i would say (he is now 74).
i just wonder how much leaving the "truth" that much later in life has an effect on depression, anxiety, anger (he joined in his 30's)?

I was not an elder, just a former MS. It's funny this realates a bit to your question...but I was just thinking the other day how my high school days were wasted, I find myself wishing I could relive them so much...playing football and hockey, enjoying the comraderie, the 'friday night lights' flirting with girls, being able to go to dances, proms...even a freeking date would have been nice.
I did get to attend some fun "get-togethers" though lol....1 chaperon for every 5 youths. shoot me now.
sorry this is off the topic of 'question for older ex-elders' just couldn't resist chiming in.

It's funny it was about 10:40 am, so I think I was a little fluf call in between d 2 d and a coffee break. lol. Funny how I only get a visit when they are on the clock...again I used to be the same. so not trying to be too judgemental, many of us were 'trained' with the same ridiculous mind set of helping the spiritually weak ones. Still weird that I am one of those now.
Hope you all have a good weekend...may you 'faders' out there and those of the 'concious class' find a good excuse to skip meeting tomorrow and watch some football! ;-)
And to those who have already permanantly escaped ummm "Luckyyy" (said in the tone of Napoloeon Dynomite)
ps would love to have spell check before a post! lol

Hello WhatNow
we seem to be in a very similar situation. When I first started reading this board, I was sooo hoping that something huge would rock the org. Now I see contoversies coming and going and I go to the hall and see the same group of people going through the motions. I remember back in 2000-2003 I was a die hard MS (although a lazy one) and I read now the discussions here on the board that were going on at the time, and I see I was in the dark back then...didn't know about the UN scandal or much about the child abuse stuff that was making headlines here. Sadely nothing really made me wonder honestly to myself "is this really THE TRUTH"
I agree with Sir82's comment about a very slow fade as a group:
"50-100 years from now they'll be as insignificant as Christian Scientists or Quakers - just a few million aging loyalists hanging on and going through the motions."
