The statement about the kickbacks probably isn't true. I think the "discount" is negociated (or used to be) by local elders who would visit the hotels. A few of the Elders in my old cong were in rooming and this is what they did around 10 years ago. Who knows though, it is certainly possible for a publishing corp to contact a few of the larger chains and get some kind of perk in return. Not really anything shady, just something any money making corporation would do.

So tonight finally had to make a decision about the DC. We missed Saturday and Sunday of the one we were assigned to. I was going to convieniently try to forget (been working most saturdays last few months) but she persisted tonight. Finally we just had to decide. I just want it to be over...we are driving over next weekend to a city about 5 hrs away. I like road trips and staying in hotels, so that part is fun for me.
I told her it was too late, and probably all booked up, to try and contact the sec. to find out about the "approved" hotels that the WTS Inc gets kickbacks from, um I mean has deals with to help the brothers. So I insisted we just use Hotwire.com and be done with it. We got an amazing deal for a Courtyard by Marriot.
She said "I hope this is OK" and "The Society frowns on that" omg. Yes I love her but, really?!
I asked her "Do you think the Almighty God of the Universe really cares about a Hotel list?" - That made her defensive, so I lightented the mood a bit and dropped it.
Hope the Hotel has a bar.

Has anyone else ever wondered this ?
by scary21 ini know the jw's are wrong but if they were right, this is my question...... when the big a comes, there has to be the best person who dies.
the one who lost out on life by a fraction.
the very best one who still did not make it.

watchtower tones down apostate talk at august 3rd convention!
by nowwhat? inno mention of them being mentally diseased or using "lies" to deceive god's people, just that they are out to attract followers for themselves!.
p.s.
i was cringing at the thought of sitting for 3 1/2 hours for the afternoon session but fortunately my one kid got sick!!

stiilin, I would think that a talk like this would have been a manuscript, I thought most of them are at this point. Anyway, If he "toned" it down too much I'm sure big brother who sits up in the chairmans's office scrutanizing the outline/manuscript would have some words with him. Orrrr, could the WTS have sent out a memo to all conventions to come, to soften the language, maybe they sent out a revised outline/script because of bad publicity. i doubt it, but who knows.
please excuse any typos wife is upstairs and i'm an undercover poster

I hear ya! hang in there. It sucks to lay there and dwell on the thought that "It was just a cult all along"
And although probably not college material I still think of catching a TD pass "that never was" playing HS football.

Anyone busted on apostate site. JCs how are they handled.
by joe134cd ini'm just wondering has any body ever been busted on an apostate site because someone was able to identify them because of something they wrote.
why i ask this question is because how would this be explained at a jc.
because the person who reported it to the jc was reading something that they shouldn't of.

tresdecu
To answer the question though, and not hijack the thread and make it personal.
If you are going to report somebody do it anonomously then you only have to worry about how the JC was handled with the one you reported. You won't be there! I highly agree with others, just don't give out personal info unless you don't mind the threat of discovery.

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

One less celebrity Scientologist
by Gopher init makes me very happy when a popular celebrity leaves a cult, because it could give others the courage to do it or start to think about leaving.. leah remini played carrie on "the king of queens", and has also been on "saved by the bell", "the talk" and had small parts in other shows.. http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/leah-remini-leaves-church-of-scientology-calls-it-corrupt-report-2013117.
leah remini leaves church of scientology, calls it "corrupt": report.
the church of scientology has one less celebrity among its ranks, according to a new report: leah remini.

"She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of 'religion.'"
What an amazing, logical, wonderful belief! Wow! and I loved her on King of Queens...great show!
