June 2006, Colorado D.C. Sat at the top of the stadium and read the book 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'. I had completely checked out mentally at this point. I checked out physically that Sunday afternoon when I finished the book.

Was it ever in your heart?
by mamalove ini don't think it ever was in my heart, that is why i have found it relatively easy to leave and not be scared of the fear belief system.
i feel kind of bad for people here who were so immersed that they still get these weird twinges of armageddon fears, etc.
that has to be difficult to still have that looming feeling.

I believed it all the way. I especially loved the organization (being a 4th generation witness). I loved the book Faith on the March by McMillan - thought the governing body was holier than the apostles. When I was pioneering and did not make my time for the month I believed whole heartedly that I let Jehovah and Jesus down.
When I was 26 I had my first daughter. I started questioning the blood issue and the society's dim view of vaccinations - it all unravelled from there.

BrotherDan: My avatar is of me - I have no problem with people knowing I am on here and am an active apostate. The picture was taken last October with my daughter at her dorm (I cut my daughter out of the picture)

I find this site to be part of my therapy. I am on every day for a month or more and then feel the need to exit for a month or two and then I always seem to return. It has been helpful in so many ways! Since I post my picture and do not hide where I live, I make sure everything I write can be backed up by any of the local lurking elders - it is satisfying to know I have a (small) voice after 41 years in a cult.

Since we are all Vegan in my household, we make a lot of Hummus. The following is the best Hummus recipe. I would love to know if others have any good Vegan recipes.
- 2 cups drained well-cooked or canned chickpeas, liquid reserved
- 1/2 cup tahini, optional, with some of its oil
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus oil for drizzling
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled, or to taste
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin or paprika, or to taste, plus a sprinkling for garnish
- Juice of 1 lemon, plus more as needed
- Chopped fresh parsley leaves for garnish
Preparation
1. Put everything except the parsley in a food processor and begin to process; add the chickpea liquid or water as needed to allow the machine to produce a smooth puree.
2. Taste and adjust the seasoning (I often find I like to add much more lemon juice). Serve, drizzled with the olive oil and sprinkled with a bit more cumin or paprika and some parsley.

Anyone Know JW's who Donated Inheritances, Estates,$$$ to WT Society ?
by flipper inif so - without divulging any names , approximately how much was donated to the wt society ?
if you are aware of approximate amounts.
as many know the wt society yearly puts out calls in their publications for witnesses to donate trust funds, wills, inheritances, estates, jewelry, cars and whatever else they have to promote the aleged " kingdom interests " in furthering the " good news " around the world.. personally i feel it's all been a scam to continue exercising control over witnesses by influencing them to financially deprive themselves so the wt society can continue it's operations.

The vast majority of my aunts and uncles left their entire estates to the society. The ones that are still living have everything willed to the society including my parents. My grand mother gave $50,000 to the circuit overseer to give to the society last year. None of my siblings or cousins stayed in the borg - so the older generation decided their kids should not get a cent. I suppose when my parents go, I will be willed all the watchtower and awake volumes and maybe a waffle iron that the society does not want.

Things you didn't think about before you became a parent
by sabastious ini never had to think about what a massive predicament it is to be watching your 6 month old alone and having a massive dump come along that you know is going to take 10-15 minutes...especially if your child is being really fussy.. -sab.

I thought 18 years would last forever - it flew by so fast
The incredible pride and joy and sheer luck I feel for having since incredible daughters (How did I get so lucky?)
The extreme lonliness I felt when they both left for college.
The sheer joy and excitement I feel when they walk through my front door and say "Hey mom, I have missed you! You look great! Do you have any money I can borrow?"
(I wish I could go back 19 years and do it all over again - they were the best years of my life)
