One poster said on another thread that there are three types of witnesses. 1. Those raised in 2. those who have had something traumatic or life changing in their lives causing them to search for reason 3. And then those who are just bat-s*** crazy

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

Went on vacation during the CO visit. My husband and I were both pioneers and he was an elder. Many in the hall gasped at that one. Such brazen behavior!

What about Don or Joel Adams? Or are they too old? Hell, they may be dead for all I know.

Will firing the DOs be the first step to a new Watchtower?
by Juan Viejo2 inagainst my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.
he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.
i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.

ONTHEWAYOUT....Expanding the GB is long overdue. But I wouldn't be surprised if the rumor is deliberately leaked so that all those D.O.'s and Bethel helpers do some serious ass-kissing until the number is filled. If the GB is going to pick people that are loyal "non-partakers" and simply tell them that holy spirit has determined they are anointed, I would say that is a heavy sign that they are definitely hand-picking by some kind of loyalty/ass-kissing test.
LOSTGENERATION...... Sending the old DOs out to the desert with a trailer to die??? Wow, just wow.
I could not agree with the above statements more.
Many Thanks Juan for posting this

I remember being told there would not be a resurrection for a person who died doing a dangerous sport.

Wasn't it Rutherford that wrote that Jehovah most likely lived in the Pleiades Cluster of the universe? Do you think that is where Peirce is hanging out tonight?

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Do you think not having the book study in private homes has had much effect?
by truthseeker init's been a few years since the organization ended the book study arrangement in private homes.. gone was the last opportunity to have tea and biscuits and a natter with the friends afterwards.. do you think people regret losing the book study?
for some, it may have been the only time they were able to get some "associaton".

We always had the Tuesday night book study in our home growing up in Northern WI. Many of the attendees lived on dairy farms and came straight to our house after milking the cows. It took days for our family room to air out.
The highlight though was always when my 2 cats would come to the front of the room and sit at my father's feet (the conducter) and in unison start cleaning their private parts for the duration of the meeting. Sometimes they would clean each others private parts. Like clock work they did this every Tuesday. I do miss that part of the bookstudy.

Atlanta International Convention Hotels Not Being Filled Up!
by James Jackson inthis week our kh devoted the whole service meeting to the upcoming international convention in atlanta.
they read a 5 page letter from the branch which stated basically that we should feel priviledged to be invited to this convention.. however, many are not using the "recomended lodging list", "many hotels still have plenty of rooms available", "we must be loyal to this arrangement", (or the organization will not get their comp rooms)..

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Society pre-pays for a block of rooms at a discounted rate. So if those rooms do not sell out than they have to eat that expense. At least that is how it works with our company conferences. If that is the case then I hope everyone either drives back and forth or finds a non-gb hotel.
