I never bought into the not having a higher education bit and was confused as hell with the over-lapping generations. That made no sense at all. Jesus said this generation as in 'one', but the GB is now saying over-lapping as in many. Some of the rank and file will say wow, what a revelation with new light, but I asked what does it mean and they can't fully explain it. This over-lapping generation thing is now like the Trinity, very mysterious.

Is the Watchtower so assured of its members' loyalty it can do and say as it pleases?
by truthseeker ini don't know how any of you feel about this, but is it possible the watchtower society is so self-assured of its members' loyalty that it no longer cares what it says or does anymore?.
one example would be the constant admonition to practically worship the faithful and discreet slave.. another is changing the end of the calling of the anointed from 1935 to no fixed date, allowing the number of anointed to be at its highest for over 40 years.. what about the overlapping generations?
most non-jws, if pointed out the inconsistencies, would see the folly of this latest understanding, yet the rank and file swallow it, hook, line and sinker.. such changes are almost blatant, in your face, yet where is the anger, the rage, at yet another move of the goal posts?.

JWs react with joy when something bad has happen to inactive or DF'd ones
by Anator ini've noticed when i was an active dub that some jws act joyful whenever they hear that an inactive jw or a df'd person had something bad happen to them.
some have a glee-ful smile and they give that *look* that says, "we told you so".
have you ever experienced what i'm referring to?

Setting of dates - they all do it
by Anator inwhether the average dub realizes it or not, they all set dates in relation to the time of the end.
i remember one who stated that he was not going to invest in any retirement funds due to the end would come before he needed it.
another said he does not want to invest in this system due to the end is imminent.

I remember one getting consoled for having any more kids in this system, he replied in saying that the big ‘A’ will come before they’ll even enter school. That experience was back in the mid 80’s. That kid is now grown and perhaps with kids of their own. I know that so-called generation theory more than likely made an impact to their assumptions but how many have you known that made statements regarding the end; almost presuming they know when it will be?

i highly recommend anyone reading it as it has numerous experiences of individuals who were mistreated so unjustly by the wt society's rigid rules - many in spite of 40, 50, or 60 yrs.
of faithful alleigance to the wt society's rules.

Bonnie_Clyde, thanks for sharing that, our marriage was also falling apart and some were actually encouraging me to do so. This was really messing up head at the time, BUT like yourself we have drawn even closer together as a family.

It has been a long while since I posted anything, but this really messed up my family big time. I remember the quote from Walter Graham , WT Canadian Branch, quoted in a Toronto Newspaper - " If someone doesn't want to live by our principles, he's free to leave. There's no badgering here, no physical or emotional harassment.... We don't dictate from headquarters. "
I did not witness this quote from Walter Graham, but my son and my wife received terrible badgering, as well as emotional harassment. I had to witness my son get DF'd and end up in a hospital under suicide watch, see my wife have a complete emotional and physiological breakdown which required medical care for months. My wife does not want anything to do with the org and has become scared from this experience and will never go back. However, I continued to believe for many years and even now I still struggle, but I remember once going to the hall sometime after, and I became so disillusioned by it all due to my experience and to see the lack of compassion, it also left me scared and I find it next to impossible to ever go back.
Fortunately, my son and wife have recovered and are doing well, and I see them happier than ever since leaving the org. I ask myself, why in the world did I ever join? But, when I search for that answer, I knew it was because, it appeared they had answers to certain questions that I never thought that could get answered. At first it appeared that the love poured in when you first entered, BUT once in the org it all felt different. I wish I had more insight at that time.

leavingwt ==> Yes, I remember one dub growing a beard and he was being talked about behind his back from all the other luving dubs. Great come back!
blondie ==> they love filling the dubs ego! Once the ego takes over you have all sorts of superior dubs dissing out the perceived weak ones.

In fact, it only seemed to be an additional detriment to them. and when they finally fell away then some would say "See!, I knew he/she was weak and didn't love Jehovah!" Ah yes....can't you just feel the love there!
What were your experiences with this in regards to labeling and how did you fair with this or did you see others being affected from labeling?

I remember going back to College to get an additional degree (already had one prior to coming a dub). A local needs talk convinced of this. It was titled "each of us needs to carry there own load". This was taken from a scripture of course and the elder mentioned from the platform that we cannot expect that the congregation nor the org to help us pay for our kids or house etc...etc... I thought really???!!! Well then, I went back to school on hearing this and am happy to say that it really paid off. Of course, I was still in the org when I went back, and of course at that time I remained relatively quite about my night time education, knowing on how some look at higher education. Some will say that your weak in the truth. (By the way, I simply hated that term 'weak'), some say it is a tool from Satan, there's no guarantee that you'll get a job and so on...
