  How was it for you when you had to shun someone?

  i remember a good friend when i was in and active who was d'fd.

  when he started coming back, for me at that time is was gut-wrenching not to say 'hello' or at the very least encourage him to continue.

  i thought even at this time, does this act of shunning really effective?

  Overlapping generation pushed me to the brink

  hello, i haven't posted for a number of years.

  i've been struggling for years of wrestling in my mind regarding the organization.

  i guess the big thing for me to push me over the edge is the generation overlapping thingy.

  Newer teachings replacing the old

  have you noticed that some newer teachings that were at one time fixed in stone have been abolished and now appear as new light.. 1. generation from 1914 to over-lapping generations.

  2. annointed stopped in 1935, but 70 years later it is now acceptable.

  if you were to suggest either one of these before it was made offical, i'm sure you could have been df'd for saying it.. any other newer teachings similar to the above that you may have noticed over the years?.

  JWs react with joy when something bad has happen to inactive or DF'd ones

  i've noticed when i was an active dub that some jws act joyful whenever they hear that an inactive jw or a df'd person had something bad happen to them.

  some have a glee-ful smile and they give that *look* that says, "we told you so".

  have you ever experienced what i'm referring to?

  Setting of dates - they all do it

  whether the average dub realizes it or not, they all set dates in relation to the time of the end.

  i remember one who stated that he was not going to invest in any retirement funds due to the end would come before he needed it.

  another said he does not want to invest in this system due to the end is imminent.

  Were you ever "labeled" in your congregation?

  there were some terms kicked around in congregations and some were labeled with these terms.

  i noticed when some were labeled with the term 'weak' they did not fair any better when they were labeled with this.

  in fact, it only seemed to be an additional detriment to them.

  Young JW's and divorce

  it's an epidemic!

  many young jw's are divorcing.

  some say you can't talk young ones out of marrying when they get there minds fixed on it....jw's says that the young ones (when i say young i mean in their teens) think they have all the answers as to why they should get married.
