  Why I Hate Fredrick Franz so much!

  imagine you lived thru many, many false prophecies 1879......1914.......1918......1925 {when the other franz's gave up}.......1940's {rutherford said the fascist would start armagedon}..........and then you start you own false prophecy 1975........what is wrong with this man?

  he saw the damage this caused....the thousands that left in droves each time!

  yet before he goes senile he has one more crack at it, sending maybe 1.5 million brothers apostate??

  There is definate a trend with end-time predictions ...

  Miller predicted the end in 1844 - it doesn't come and there is dissapointment - Miller loses zeal for end-time prophecies

  Barbour, a Millerite, recalculates and suggests a new date of 1874 with a rapture at 1878 - it doesn't come to pass and there is dissapointment. Barbour loses interest end-time calculations.

  Russell, an associate of Barbour, recalculates and suggests 1914 as the new date of the rapture and end - it doesn't come to pass and there is great dissapointment. Russell dies.

  Rutherford, a student of Russell, recalculates and suggests 1925 as the new date of the end - it doesn't come to pass and there is great dissapointment. Rutherford dies.

  Franz, a junior associate of Rutherford, recalculates and suggests 1975-76 as the new date of the end ...

  I am scared for my life. Problems with punks.

  so i have been having problems with the renters that moved in next door.

  the last 3 months have been a living hell.

  i have an ongoing complaint with the slumlord that owns the property and the city is taking him to court for derelict vehicles next week (which i anonymously complained about, but i am sure i am being blamed for).

  I'm sorry to hear about your experience. On personal level I totally hate confrontation so I can somewhat understand what you are saying - though I've never dealt with anything near what you are going through.

  For the sake of balance ...

  Don't kill the guy - apologise for getting off on a bad foot, invite him over for pizza and beer. I'm sorry if this answer sounds flippant, I'm totally serious.

  Pro's and Con's of DAing myself.

  i have been wrestling with the idea of da'ing myself for close to a year now.

  but there is a small area in my subconscious that whispers "this is not a good idea.

  i haven't been to a meeting in over six months, no service in seven years.

  There is the suggestion put forth here that you are not bound by their rules so why should you feel obligated to disassociate. I agree that you owe them nothing. However, you have to understand that by not disassociating you are still in bondage. How so? Ask yourself, if by remaining "technically" a JW would you find yourself continually looking over your shoulder, guarding your speech, or otherwise being in fear of discovery? Is so you would be a slave and you may find that you are not free to pursue life in a way that you would had you made a complete seperation.

  I'm a firm believer in the Truth and if the fact that you speak about how not DA-ing makes you feel "dishonest" leads me to believe you value the truth as well. I personally would find it difficult, if not impossible, to live such a double-life and keep good conscience. I will testify that standing up for the Truth is liberating and worth every loss that it brings.

  This tract is seriously in error -

  It starts out with the false assumption that the Word spoken of by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of John is "the Bible". From page 1 in the Gospel of John, the Word is clearly identified as Jesus. The tract then serves to shift attention from Jesus to the Bible. This may not seem like a bad thing - but consider the word spoken by Jesus concerning similar teachers in his day,

  “Y OU are searching the Scriptures, because YOU think that by means of them YOU will have everlasting life; and these are the very ones that bear witness about me. And yet YOU do not want to come to me that YOU may have life." - John 5:39, 40, NWT

  It is entirely possible to be students of the Scriptures, searching for answers to questions, but missing the answer, Jesus. He is the Truth (John 14:6) and yet the Watchtower continually fails to direct attention to him.

  mine was the time i had my twin grandsons with me and i was sitting in the overflow room.

  they both needed to go potty at the same time.

  so i tried to pick both of them up.

  Mine happened during one written review -

  My wife had studied a head and quickly wrote down all of the answers and then went back to the Baby room, with our infant daughter.

  As the time started winding down I was behind so I copied down the rest of her answers, including those for the fill in the blank portion. I decided to answer one of the fill in the blank questions using one of her answers.

  I can't remember the question but I recall my answer, "The Jews"

  BUZZ. WRONG. BUZZ.

  the correct answer was "Jehovah's Witnesses", which my wife had abbreviated as "JWS", and I had miscopied as "Jews".

  Elder stakeouts! Anyone done one / been a victim of one?

  suppose the elders get an anonymous letter or phone call, or even a brave soul tells them that they no "brother so-and-so" is sleeping with "sister suzy q".

  or a believing jw has a "non-scriptural" divorce, and wants proof her ex is sleeping with someone else.

  the elders' manual says the "strong circumstantial evidence, such as evidence that the accused spent all night in the house of someone of the opposite sex who is not his wife or a family member" (paraphrase) can be used as evidence in a judicial case.. to get such "strong circumstantial eveidnce", elders have been known to "stake out" a house, spending all night in a car watching a house.. in all my time as an elder, i was never involved in one of these.

  I had to laugh at the comment above about elders thinking they were Jim Rockford. In my former congregation there were an elder that conducted himself like he was a real private eye. Once when a man in the congregation was going through a judicial investigation, this elder went so far in his investigation to interview the non-witness employees that worked for this man searching for evidence.

  As for me - perhaps I was a victim of a virtual stakeout?

  The elder son of the PI elder mentioned above had a habit of doing Internet searches on Witnesses to look for evidence of wrong doing. We used to work together and he would occasionally call me into his office to show me sisters he found with personal ads on Yahoo personals.

  When the elders became suspcicious of me this elder son began monitoring my personal blog - printing off page after page of blog entries to attempt to build a case against me for apostasy. When I moved my blog, I believe he contacted me using a false name borrowed from a character in one of those CSI programs and asking for my new blog address. If so, that is pretty funny - perhaps he saw himself as someone from CSI conducting an investigation?

  As a side note - these printouts of my blog entries were not only used for my judicial case but for a secular court case. When I first started blogging I made the mistake of writing about my work. Although my blog was for family and friends I didn't appreciate what can happen when you write about work issues on the Net. When the owner of the company I worked started going through a divorce, the above mentioned elder supplied his wife with copies of blog entries were I written about work. The printouts came to be used during the court hearings though they didn't really containing anything of real importance.

  There was another related experience about computer investigations that I can share. A friend of mine, who once was an elder, related how they had suspected two young men in the congregation of looking at Internet pornography. They went to the home of the first young man and confiscated his computer to search for evidence - which they found and took judicial action against him. The second young man refused to turnover his computer and if I remember right they took judicial action against for insubordination or strong circumstancial edvidence or something like that.

  Yes ...

  Had a couple of semi-private Blogs where I wrote about things that were going on in my life and work. Gradually, I began to write more and more about my spiritual life. I got in a little bit of trouble this way. I didn't know it at first but an elder in my congregation was printing off and copying all of my blog entries in order to bring an apostasy charge against me. When I found out about this I took that blog off-line and moved to another one; but, the snooping elder found that one too.

  Eventually, I was disfellowshipped. Although, they were no longer online, this elder took some of my blog entries about my work that he still had copies of and used them to stir up trouble at with the company I was working for.

  I still blog pretty regularly but I'm not enthusiastic about putting my personal information on the Internet. I learned that even if you are putting something up for family & friends, that it can still come back to bite you. These days I typically only write about Christian spirituality and related topics. I generally try to write something new every Sunday - but sometimes fall out of this habit.

  WTS Will Stop Charging Interest on Loans

  the org will stop charging interest on kh building fund loans effective sep 1, 2008. current loan payment amounts will remain the same so the loans can be paid off sooner.. congregations should continue to donate to the kh building fund, and publishers can donate directly to the fund by sending donations directly to the branch.

  congregations are encouraged to forward surplus congregation and operating funds to the branch until the time those funds are needed by the congregation (this was actually read to the congregation...talk about full disclosure).. this is for all branches and congregations, not just the u.s..

  I wonder if this has anything to do with liability and seperating the Corporation from the congregation.

  For the Napa Court Cases the WT attempted to get out by claiming that they were Pennsylvania Corporation with no financial interests in California. The court ruled that because the congregation received invoices from the Corporation for insurance coverage that it constituted a business relationship, even though payment was called "donations".

  Would the same work for interest paid on loans?
