  WT undergoing "Invisible Growth"

  i heard that the latest watchtower mag made reference to the borganization undergoing "invisible growth".

  anybody can fill me in with the details and context?

  Maybe they are referring to the "faders" who wish to or are becoming "invisible". There is much growth in that area.

  expenses -vs- donations............. the fall of the Watchtower empire

  as long as i've been here, i have preached that $$$$$ will be the only way for the wt to drop.. many agree on a small level, but think the wt has deep pockets.. they may have deep pockets, but i bet the investments they have have lost quite a bit since 2001.. my main calculation reguards the following hypothesis::::::.

  magazine and literature consumption -vs- donations.

  i know of 2 congregations, and let me post some figures:.

  Can anyone confirm that the WTS invests in stocks and bonds?

  I worked in accounts for many years, and collectively as a hall (8 congregations!) we enjoyed an immense surplus. But the WTS had given specific direction that we could not "invest" those funds. The best we could do were to buy "open" short term GICs or treasury bills. The WTS wanted to make sure we maintained liquidity at all times. And i'm sure investing in stocks would have been viewed as some form of gambling, and how could we do that with the collectives' money?!

  Would they not follow their own advice? (Ok, ok, silly question.)

  I, too, have said this before: cash flow is vital. If growth is only occuring in third world or poorer countries, they will not be able to sustain the growth. Once they sell an asset it's gone! How will they replenish their wealth? Selling magazines to a family that earns $30 a month???

  I don't know too much about aboriginals, but I do know that battling over land has been a big issue.

  It would seem that the WTS is feeding on this, promising their own land by depicting pictures that showcase only aboriginals enjoying the paradise among their own native land (I didn't see any tigers or elephants... just animals from the great white north). It's quite deceptive. So are they saying that even in the new system they will be confied to "reservation lands"?

  I also love the stereotypical use of native clothing, animal symbols (the hawk, eg.), canoe, elemental symbols (the river)... all to promote deception and lies.

  JWs and Star Trek...

  one part of my experience with the jw's was that many of the elders in my congreagtion were die hard into star trek...i figured it was isolated to that one kh, but as i went to different ones, i noticed it was a lot of them.

  one elder explained his fandom as: "it makes me think of the new system.

  we will travel to other planets when the earth is full, and colonize the galaxy.

  I also always believed that Star Trek was anti Christianity (but not necessarily anti-religion, although it was sometimes "masked" as ancient traditions... and isn't that what religion is all about?).

  I remember even in a more recent Enterprise episode someone was describing to Bakula something about deriving beliefs from ancient manuscripts and Bakula saying something like "yeah, just like bible in the past on Earth."

  I guess as a witness it is sometimes difficult to see these things, or it just goes on ignored (like many other realities).

  District Convention shortened to 2 days?!

  pay attention, wts bethelites assigned to read apostate forums, this is a great cost reduction idea:.

  shorten the dc from 3 to 2 days.

  1. save a considerable amount of money.. 2. attendance is down anyway on friday.. 3. gas prices are still climbing.. 4. most people deposit their donation on the last 2 days into the heavily guarded contribution boxes (i worked in accounts at the dc, so i know this is a fact), so the wts will not lose any revenue.. 5. will lessen the "burden" of people having to take time off work (the twist is that they can say this is a "loving provision" from jah to help jws help make ends meet).. 6. one less day for apostate protests outside stadium.. comments?.

  Yeah, they'll probably say that. But that then begs the question, if people not having to take off work now is a "loving provision" from Jah, then what was it all those sixty plus years before? You know, where people HAD to take off, not just for Friday, but for up to a WEEK from work). One would have to therefore conclude it was a "shitty provision" from Jah for all those sixty years.

  Then the same should be said when they eliminated the book study. What about all those people in other countries that travel 10 km in the rain, uphill both ways, without shoes. They must be really pissed that they had to do it for countless years before this new "loving provision" was provided. (actually, they still have to do it until Dec 08).

  The same could be said when organ transplants were banned. What about all those who died as a result? Just goes to show that the WTS does not take ownership for their decisions.
