Elder calling around

i'm a new member as i've not completely left the org yet and being a "good lil jw" would never have looked at a site like this previously!

there is one elder in the cong who calls around every so often to "chat" as i only stopped attending meeting a couple of months ago.

i've spoken to him about certain subjects - eg the un thing and the misuse of quotes - but he has no useful answers for me.

I just sent you a Private Message. To read it look for MESSAGES in tiny print at the top on the left of your screen.

You could invite him to a meal and when he pops the big question you can handle it like this:

Busybody Elder: "Do you still consider this Jehovah's organization?"

You: "Why did you ask that? You don't think I'm an apostate do you!?"

Busybody Elder: "Uh, ... I didn't say that. Don't get defensive!"

You: "Defensive! So that's how it is. I don't want to hear another word, please. Let's just keep it peaceful."

Busybody Elder: "Well, uh... duhhhhhhh."

That way he, not you, will be the one on trial. If he keeps trying to press you, just leave the room, shaking your head at him.

here's my yearly tips for those unfortunate enough to be going to the assembly.......there's alot of newbies here who just might benefit from sum of deeze tips.

Another thought. What's really great is to have things that relate to the very state where the convention is going on at. For example, if you're in California. Not only will you keep awake at the convention, everybody else will too including for weeks to come!

Visuals are really good. While at the conventions be studying the faces there to see if you recognize one. If you do, call the authorities and report him. Imagine U.S. marshalls making an arrest in the bleachers. It would be the talk of the convention!

Saturday's Conference Call

did anyone hear this past saturday's conference call with rick?.

one of his guests brought out how back in 1989 the wt was considering whether or not they should disfellowship those in the congregations who were overweight!

their rationale for this was that since smoking was already a disfellowshipping offense and since smoking is bad for your health, being overweight is also bad for your health, therefore should it be made into a disfellowshipping offense.

I'm thinking it was a testing project the Governing Body assigned just to that one Circuit Overseer.

Since in ancient times obesity was a crime under Mosaic Law the GB must now enact it too, or otherwise Jehovah will never be pleased with how cleaned up the organization is so not bring on Armageddon which ushers in paradise earth. He must also spiritually kill all oral-sexers. Also those whose houses aren't spotlessly clean. Also........

Oh, yeah. It was against Mosaic Law to eat fat, too. It incurred the death penalty same as eating blood did when Mosaic Law existed. So in Jehovah's cleaned up, ready for Great Tribulation and Armageddon kingdom done come on earth organization, well, if you eat those fatty McDonald's burgers you aren't clean enough and get the boot too, or should.

There's another thread somewhere on which a fading JW says at the special training school in New York all the U.S. elders were told to go home and prepare their congregations for the Great Tribulation.

You say this prepare to die if needed talk was given at the building of a new kingdom hall in the United Kingdom. Did U.K. elders also receive instructions to prepare their followers for possible death in the Great Tribulation?

I find this scary since I still have family in the organization and heard from a person who used to work up there in Brooklyn that the Governing Body members are pretty much senile, nuts, or followers to the death of Jaracz. We'd better keep our eyes and ears open.

WT to hide funds offshore?

There was another thread saying the Spanish speaking elders got a letter from Brooklyn saying from now on the congregations are to send money donations straight to an account for Watchtower, but where that account is or if it feeds back to still another account that is in the Cayman's or elsewhere nobody knows outside of Watchtower's investments people and their attorneys. They want to invest the pooled money to make more money for themselves, not the local congregations.

This new money arrangement will enable them to make even more money so as to replace some money they will be losing from having to stop getting interest on kingdom hall builds money. The thread on that just popped up, too and the letter on it is being read to elders around the globe. Comments suggest this other change was forced on them because they feared losing their tax exempt status as a nonprofit corporation, and/or it could be to try to distance themselves from lawsuits now quietly going on in California and elsewhere.

Their getting money from all the congregations in California showed their degree of control and therefore financial liability in such lawsuits. In 2007 this factor was likely enormous in moving them to decide fast that they had better pay out an estimated $12 to $13 million dollars to settle with the numerous victims in Napa Valley.

They are so scared of losing their asssets. As someone else said, the Bible says to not be getting interest off loans to spiritual brothers.

Too, Christ drove the money-lenders out of the Temple.

#1 Lawrence won the right to sue the doctors and is on more than solid ground not only for doing so but winning.

#2 He will be appealing this lower level judge's ruling for the right to continue suing Watchtower including David Gnam. This will continue keeping what they did to his daughter (whisking her away to a doctor giving her arsenic instead of standard transfusion treatment) in the eyes of the public.

Violations of privacy re: postal mail by JWs

i have been sending out orders of books to jws, ex-jws and others for over 25 years.

sometimes plain wrap to keep the family's noses out of it.

over the years i have seen the same constant pattern: whenever the questioning jw lives with or near family members who are currently jws, they want to break open the mail to see what others are ordering!!

It looks like they have also hacked into Rick Fearon's telephone conference. He deleted the part where they really messed it up. It was the one where Bill Bowen and his wife were interviewed. That part came through pretty well, but the second part was messed up and Rick as said deleted it. I was on that night and several of us commented on how wrong this was. I believe it violated Federal law. So why don't you and Rick lodge complaints with the U.S. Attorney General's office?
