DO NOT have children in this system!!
by What Now? ingrowing up, this is something that my other always told me.
i've had several conversations with older sisters who have said that if they could do things over, they wouldn't have had children.
other couples my own age are horrified at the thought of raising children in "this system".

I've heard this statement several times while I was a JW. My sympathy is with anyone who WANTED children, but didn't have them because of the Borg's mind control.
When I first got married I didn't want to have children "in a divided household". About a month later, I stopped going to meetings and have since reconsidered my decision. Four years later I'm pregnant with my first child. I'm happy and anxious at the same time, like any other expectant mother.

Did you Fade Gradually or Stop Attending Meetings Quickly ? Reasons ?
by flipper inbeen thinking about this and curious about what makes us all come to the decisions we came to in our fade/exiting the jw organization.. i think for myself having been born-in & raised a jw my doubts about the generation doctrine had simmered for years within me quietly and by the time i finally left in 2003 i had reached my breaking point.
also seeing unjust treatment of rank & file witness ( myself included ) just propelled me into my decision even quicker.
so - one day after meeting with 3 elders in a back room before a meeting and seeing their judgmental aggression towards me - i just told myself " enough is enough ".

Sometime around the Spring of '07, I watched a documentary on Jim Jones and saw some similarities between that group and the JW's. From then on I decided not to "drink the kool-aid". I became more critical of what I was hearing at meetings. In fact, it became difficult for me to sit through them.
When they went over the "Questions From Readers" in the September 2007 Kingdom Ministry, I knew it was time to leave. I don't remember if I stayed for the rest of the meeting or not. But I knew any religion that sanctions bible studies is not for me.
I'm sure the "friends" think my "worldly" husband pulled me away from Jehovah. If they only knew the TRUTH!

What Did You Not Do Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness That You Wanted To Do?
by minimus ini didn't go to college and of course, "higher education" was never recommended.
still, i never felt terribly deprived because of not going further in my education.. yet, i did wish that i could've had "normal" aka "worldly friends".
i wish that as witnesses, we could've been better integrated with other people.

I didn't formally introduce my then fiance' to my family
I didn't have a real wedding.
I met my non JW husband while I was in the Borg. Even though the vast majority of my family are not JW's, I kept our courtship from them because people talk. As a result we got married at a court house with a few relatives present. If I could do it over, we would have had a real, yet small, wedding. Grrrrrr!!!

Porn is .....Mostly Irrelevant
by metatron inthis is one of those things that can amaze you (well, me actually).
you are taught a relentless fear about porn and it gets demonized heavily - but what is the real result?.
most guys don't want a porn star for a wife and separate fantasy from reality in regard to interaction with the opposite sex.. maybe that's why religious types like witnesses demonize it so much: they are unable to distinguish fact from fantasy.. see:.

As a woman, porn is no big deal to me. Sure, there's some vulgar, objectifying stuff out there. Since I waited until my late, late twenties to have sex, I had to get some tips from somewhere.

Well, I'd rather keep my former "friends" at bay. We don't have any mutal friends on the site. So this person "searched" for me. Unless someone is ready to leave the Borg, we don't have much to discuss.
