Heavenly Hope

here are some questions i want to pose to our friends here.

does a person have to be baptized to go to heaven and if one must get baptized, how is this to be arranged and by whom?.

the reason i ask this is many here have professed their belief that they are part of the body of christ, should partake of the emblems whenever they celebrate the lord's supper, and will go to heaven after they die if they have been faithful.

Hi Quendi, I support totally the answer of discreetslave above, I would say the same. So if you have been baptized in the same way it is valid. I remember when I was baptized 1988 at age of 13, one of the questions befor baptism with the elders was from the Organization-book: What does it mean to be baptized in the name of Father and Son and holy spirit? So it had to be undertood to be approved for baptism. So I regarded and still regard that I was baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, even though just befor baptism at the convention they asked two other questions.

And I defend the necessity of baptism, because Jesus told: Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, ... (Mathew 28:19) And therefor Cornelius was baptized, eventhough he had already got the holy spirit. In Acts 10 we read: Then Peter responded: 47 “Can anyone forbid water so that these might not be baptized who have received the holy spirit even as we have?” 48 With that he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

And I see that you wish to become chosen by Good, or as we call it usually anointed. It is a good desire, actually Jehovah God has been since the first centry searching and inviting people to his heavenly kingdom. And he has not yet been able to get the full number of 144000 and therefor the heavenly hope is still open. And to me it seems that those who get anointed are more than usually God-minded people. Here are some scriptures showing what kind of persons are on the way to the Heavenly Kingdom. Jesus said: But from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of the heavens is the goal toward which men press, and those pressing forward are seizing it. (Matthew 11:12) So as Jesus says, you have to be pressing forward. That means you should not let the "organization" hinder you to speak about the truth as they say: Be quiet and wait for Jehovah, and don't disturb us. And it is not only the jw-society which opposes the truth, but generally the whole world is against the truth.

And a scripture that shows that you have to be God-minded: James 2:5: Listen, my beloved brothers. God chose the ones who are poor respecting the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he promised to those who love him, did he not?

So what I mean with God-minded, is that if you are God-minded you will strive to please God in your best way and you will love Him. This is important because Jehovah God responds to the love an individual has for him, just as the scripture above tells about those who are to be "heirs of the kingdom, which he promised to those who love him".

Hi DagothUR, I think you are too dogmatic and negative. There are a lot of interesting arkeological facts in these videos, confirming the Bible. And I am not alone to appreciate this. But unfortunately I have not heard the Watchtower refering to the findings of Ron Wyatt. Maybe his findings are disturbing.

Hi lamallcool, concerning the discrediting video, what's wrong about selling information? But if you don't want to believe, it's up to you. But if you instead of trying to discredit this man, would listen to what he says and compare to what is happening in the world you would understand.

Here it says the waters had been made bitter, could it refer to radioactive water? Hard to confirm right away but look at the prophetic event mentioned prior to this (Rev 8:8,9) : And something like a great mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea. And a third of the sea became blood; 9 and a third of the creatures that are in the sea which have souls died, ...

Was this the oil-rig disaster last year? Because the burning oil-rig which fell into the see could well fit to the description "a great mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea" and the spilled oil was not black but red similar to blood. And the third of the see could refer to the mexican gulf.

Even the prophecied event prior to this seems to fit what happened when the volcano erupted in Island last year (Rev 8:7): And there occurred a hail and fire mingled with blood, and it was hurled to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees was burned up, and all the green vegetation was burned up.

"A third of the earth was burned up" could refer to a third of Island.

Also the events prior to this seems to fit the prophecy, it says "And thunders occurred and voices and lightnings and an earthquake." Prior to the oil-rig disaster and the volcanic eruption on Island there was a major earthquake on Haiti.

So if this sequence of prophecy is now fullfilling, what is then the next major sign to happen? It says: And the fourth angel blew his trumpet. And a third of the sun was smitten and a third of the moon and a third of the stars, in order that a third of them might be darkened and the day might not have illumination for a third of it, and the night likewise.

We'll see what that will be, but some say that a planet X is coming and it could happend that it would travel somewhere between the earth and the sun and thus cause a shadow so that a third of the sun would be darkened.

Next in the prophecy, (Revelation 9:1-11) there is a locust plague, and after that a 200 million (2 myriads x myriads) army coming to kill a third of the worlds population (Revelation 9:13-21). There are reports coming that Chinas and Russia are angry with what NATO is doing in the middle east and this could trigger China to take over the Asia and Middle East while USA is going to default.

After this the rest of mankind would welcome a global governance, the New World Order and this would result in hard times for christians for 3 and half years. Because they will pressure everyone to get the mark of the beast. Now I've seen not only RFID-chips but a patented idea to make a tattoo above the RFID-chip.

So, hard times a head. Therefor: " seek Jehovah, all YOU meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. Probably YOU may be concealed in the day of Jehovah’s anger. -Zeph 2:3

And everyone doing bad things: Repent and turn around!

Needed Organizational Changes for WT

i am concerned about the spiritual welfare of the jehovah's witnesses.

surely we all have noticed an unhealthy development in their leaders attitude, the "governing body".

they have more and more begun to emphasize their importance and their power, in the literature and talks and thereby drawing unnecessary much attention to themselves.

Hi Maze, on paradisecafe forum melancholymuse had gathered a lot of scriptures showing how little was directed by apostles and older men from Jerusalem, and therefor it is very different from todays "governing body". So here is a copy of the material:

BUT WHAT DOES THE BIBLE REALLY TEACH REGARDING THE AUTHORITY OF THE GOVERNING BODY OVER THE MEMBERSHIP?Although the Watchtower Society adheres to a rigid system of dependence upon its Governing Body, the actual Bible accounts are certainly more relaxed in their view of the Biblical "Governing Body" system:

1. Phillip was dispatched directly by Jehovah's Angel and the Holy Spirit, not through the Governing Body's instructions (Acts 8: 26-40).

2. Peter was directly taught by the Holy Spirit outside of the Governing Body's instruction (Acts 10:9-28).

3. Peter wrote two letters of doctrinal teaching to several congregations without the Governing Body's oversight (Books of 1 and 2 Peter)

4. Barnabas was selected as an evangelizer through the Holy Spirit, not through the Governing Body's direction (Acts 13:2).

5. Paul and Barnabas themselves ordained men in some of the congregations without the direction of the Governing Body (Acts 14: 23)

6. Paul wrote several letters of doctrinal teaching to other congregations without the Governing Body's oversight (Books of Romans -Philemon)

7. Paul was spoken to directly from the Lord Himself -- not through the Governing Body (Acts 18:9).

8. Paul recommended a female minister without the Governing Body's direction (Romans 16:1)

9. Paul also taught things that weren't specifically decreed from the Governing Body (1 Corinthians 7:12, 1 Timothy 2:12).

10. Paul decided the rules on disfellowshipping / resinstatement, not the Governing Body (1 Corinthians 5:1-5 and 2 Corinthians 2:5-11).

First of all, please note that none of the above listed people were a part of a "Governing Body" stationed in Jerusalem as evidenced by the fact that they continued to travel from region to region to share the Good News of Christ (whereas the Watchtower's Governing Body remains stationary in its worldwide Headquarters located in Brooklyn NY, much like the Biblical "Governing Body" remained stationed in Jerusalem ).

Second, as shown by the above list of ten examples, if you search carefully through the Bible you will see that God's direction through a governing body was actually the exception, not the norm.

Therefore, the Governing Body's claim to spiritual authority is flawed, weak, and is unfairly usurping Christ's position in the Christian congregation.
