A few questions for all you experts from my long JW meeting yesterday
by AuntBee inhere are a few things that were said that seemed kind of dubious to me.
(i had a meeting with 2 women that came to the door - full story in the thread "i received the knock...").
they baptize in the name of the father, son and holy spirit.

Funny you should ask.... I think i mentioned it in a PS on my original thread........i didn't even get a free Watchtower out of all that, and felt so ripped off!! Should i call the KH, and ask someone to bring me the current one?
THANKS for that great info from the current mag. wow.

This is the most incredible part of the video, couched in the middle of all that guilt-tripping, fear, heavy handedness.
"We are not able or willing, to tell you what to do....We are not masters over your faith." What a relief to know that! Now the hearers can rejoice in their glorious freedom to decide! Sheesh on a cracker!!

Thanks for all the responses and helpful info. The one woman was very intelligent and knowledgeable. I would say she is probably one of their best and brightest. I believe she was anticipating how i would react to certain things, and adjusted the 'truth' accordingly. Maybe even getting a little worn down, and didn't want to face any more of those things head-on.

They baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy SPirit. THey don't discourage college. The GB (FDS) is really not that big of a deal in dictating their lives, so why do i keep pressing that point? The 'door to door' hours are really not that big of a pressure or legalistic deal - after all, some are sick in bed and can't do it at all! -- THe Society encourages people to study the BIble on their own without publications or FDS guidance , people CAN come to the Truth just by reading the Bible on their own without the FDS.

My heart goes out to you, and it made me start crying this morning, as my own oldest daughter died suddenly in her sleep at 25 years old, in APril, cause unknown. :(
I just spoke with a JW woman this morning for 70 minutes, and i did bring up the blood issue. SHe does not know who i am, and doesn't have any idea how well i know her sons, who are teenagers, which is another story. I just adore the 2 boys, and hearing her say right to my face that she'd let them die rather than take a transfusion, i almost started crying right then and there. It was quite chilling, even more so after having just read your story this morning.
Thanks for sharing all that; i hope you can help save many others.

Scriptures the Gibbering Body Wished Were Never Written...
by Darklighter ini posted this over at http://exjehovahswitnessforum.yuku.com/topic/8646/master/1/ too... (that's a good site for all you who are looking for a replacement to jwd).
i was doing some research last night, and found out that luke 21:8 has only been specifically commented on once in the last 40 years in the watchtower!
see if you can guess why... .

Romans 4:4-8 -- Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. However, to the man who does NOT WORK but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from woks: 'Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him" NIV

Should Smoking Be a Mortal Sin?
by skeeter1 injdubs hang their hat on the fact that the wts was right about not smoking.
(the jdubs forget that the wts did not get it right on vaccinations or organ transplants...but that's for another post).
granted, saying "no" to smoke was a good, healthy decision.

I actually heard someone talking about this the other day. Do a Bible concordance search on the word "smoking". Then do a word search for "unicorn." The Bible talks about unicorns much more than it talks about smoking. LOL
