A LOOK INSIDE BETHEL LIFE, THE ORGANIZATION BEHIND THE NAME
by Bethelite Elder inwhen i first came to bethel, the going reassurance was that if you stayed more than 5 years, you would be considered permanent.
many of the bethelites bought into the idea and stayed many years.
however, a few years back they had a test of faith.

Blondie and Witchtower study death threats.
by hamsterbait ini now find the dub only koolaid edition so awful i can only read so much.. blondie does a great job of proxy-studying for us all, we owe her a great debt of gratitude.. i vote that when her task finally drives her barking mad we all club together to pay for her electro-shock therapy, just to help get her back here real soon.. anyway, i digress.. an interesting feature of the studies is the number of death threats, or threats of initiatory force, that are being put in the studies nowadays.
even in titles such as "what will you give to continue living?".
do you think it would be worth posting a "death threat" count for each week?

Friends, Study Partners, and then GONE...
by ptucker8357 inabout a year and 12 ago, after much conversation with a jw co-worker, we began a formal study.
we studied religiously (no pun intended) almost every week unless i was on business travel or there was a sickness or other item that precluded us from getting together.. .
during that process, we became very strong, close friends... at least that is what i thought was happening.

Welcome to the forum.
Sadly, you've experienced the true nature of the Watch Tower Society's public 'ministry'. As a JW I behaved similarly to the way your JW behaved. It's a sad reality and consequence of the mental conditioning Jehovah's Witnesses subject themselves to.
Hopefully your story will serve as a warning to others.

Warning - Independent thinking alert - shut down all systems
by donny ini have a jw in my employ and he is overall a good person, but i am frequently reminded how controlled a jw mind is when it comes to reason.
i was in my office with my jw associate when another co-worker (cw) came in and they got into a discussion of bible versions.
it went like this.. cw - well i use the king james version most of the time.

Isn't there an Awake! article on the dangers of not having a mind open to new ideas?
