I was at church tonight and was asked to pray over the bread at communion. It's only the second time I've been asked to do it in church. It's a daunting, humbling experience to bow your head and address the Lord of Lords and thank him for his broken body. I can contrast this experience to praying over the bread in the Kingdom Hall Memorial; what can you possibly say, as a JW, in prayer to God about the death of Christ when you're forbidden (on fear of being regarded as a nutter) from having anything to do with the emblems?
Communion, to my mind, is a vitally important part of Christian worship; it's where you actually share in what Christ's death and spilt blood accomplished.
