email I received from a JW
by jwfacts inmost of the emails i receive to jwfacts.com are from doubting jws wanting to express their appreciation for the information.
occasionally i receive emails from active jws and although a couple have engaged in intelligent conversation, the following email i received this morning is a very good example of what jws send me.
you're bloody liars, go learn the real truth!.

Just got my copy of "In Search of Christian Freedom"
by JimmyPage inafter reading "combatting cult mind control" and "crisis of conscience" i wondered what i would read next.
i really enjoyed "coc" and i saw a lot of posts on jwd that mentioned how "in search of" helps jws overcome their aversion to birthdays and holidays.
i feel like that's what i need now to help fully deprogram myself.

We celebrated our daughter's 4th birthday this week. Felt strange and good at the same time. ISoCF is a great book that helps new Christians find that much needed balance after years of WTS abuse.

My marriage is falling apart!
by sacolton inover breakfast, my wife and i discussed the feeling of distance between us.
i haven't kept her for going to meetings or anything of the sort.
yet, since i've left the organization - she has been more distant from me.

To everyone having marriage difficulties due to this cult, my heart goes out to you all. It's a terrible, terrible thing.

Defence of watchtower society Links
by reniaa ini thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.

Reniaa says;
"Thank you scholar for your support it was getting lonely in here.
Are you nuts? This is a forum for EX-JWs! You're clearly an ACTIVE JW, so the fact you've few friends should hardly surprise you. -

I loved the recent public WT magazine article on hell where it quotes Jesus talking about hell and then states, "Jesus did not intend to contradict God's word." Er, Jesus is the Word of God. Pretty much what he says counts.
But then JWs don't see it that way. I had an elder ask me to "forget what Jesus said" in Acts 1:7. -

@isaacausting - in that file called 'doubts'? When did the file get so full and heavy that it broke the shelf? ;-)

...new conversation...
Reasoning Book pg312
Rapture Definition: The belief that faithful Christians will be bodily caught up from the earth, suddenly taken out of the world, to be united with the Lord "in the air." The word "rapture" is understood by some persons, but not by all, to be the meaning of 1 Thessalonians 4:17. The word "rapture" does not occur in the inspired Scriptures.
1 Thess 4:15 For this is what we tell YOU by Jehovah’s word, that we the living who survive to the presence of the Lord shall in no way precede those who have fallen asleep [in death]; 16 because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first. 17 Afterward we the living who are surviving will, together with them, be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we shall always be with [the] Lord. 18 Consequently keep comforting one another with these words.
Note verse 17 - "afterward we the living who are surviving.."
How does the BIBLE contradict this 'false teaching' of rapture according to the Reasoning Book's definition. I'm confused. -

Yes reniaa, I do want this conversation. All of those pictures refer to, or imply, Catholicism, and are not therefore, reflective of Christianity as a whole. Btw, do you want your picture taken with one of the members of the Governing Body? Cos if you do, the next time they're speaking at a convention near you, you'll be offered the chance!
But, hey, you stick with the WTS who say you can't get the holy spirit to help you understand the Bible, that the Bible wasn't written for you anyway, that you're part of a great crowd of other sheep who hope to live on a paradise earth.*
Christians look to the cross as a symbol of God's love and mercy. If Catholics wish to venerate the cross, that's up to them, they'll explain themselves to Christ for doing so, as will 'mainstream' Christians who recognise the cross as being where Christ put sin to death, and as will JWs who happily accept that the blood of the new covenant wasn't poured out for them, but for 144,000 people max, ever.
Actually, I've changed my mind, I don't want this conversation with you. I'm sorry to say you represent everything I despise about the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society.
*no such thing as a great crowd of other sheep and the Bible nowhere talks about a paradise earth. -

The reason we have governments who institute law enforcement agencies and courts etc etc is to make sure everyone gets a crack at justice. To circumvent that arrangement by saying that a child needs 2 witnesses before action will be taken is fine within the cult.
However, in order for the cult to act with subjection to the 'superior authorities', as per the Bible's clear direction, they'd have to have in operation a policy where any accusation of child abuse is immediately, without exception, reported to the law enforcement agency. It would appear that, while justice isn't always done, these law enforcement guys are pros and they have trained investigators who have the skills and resources to investigate an accusation and determine whether a crime has been committed. And if they determine, with or without 2 witnesses, that a crime has been committed, then justice can be served on behalf of the injured party.
The WTS policy of only reporting accusations of child abuse if the 'superior authority' requires it opens up the possibility of child abusers being able to re-offend without injunction by the congregation. Adding that to their policy of 'two witnesses', and you have a situation where an entire body of God-fearing people are open to accusation of covering up child abuse. They kind of bring that on themselves, though, don't they?
