12 ex-JWs at church yesterday...
by passwordprotected inas reported elsewhere on the forum, there were 12 ex-jws at our baptism service yesterday.
twelve.. it was quite an experience to hear about an ex-jw who had moved to another part of the country and had written down 150 names of jws in the area of glasgow she was originally from and had started praying for all those names last summer.
two of the people on her list were at the church yesterday, with their wives and children.

@ Albert - at one of my last meetings a 7 year old boy answered the following, "All the boys at school are bad and are going to die at Armageddon". I can't tell you how stunned I was that this was viewed as an acceptable statement from a 7 year old kid. The Witnesses view comments like this as being 'expressions of faith'. Well, I'm sorry but I don't want my children raised with a faith that rejoices over the slaughter of billions of innocent children.
You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

@ boyzone - I agree. We can only expect the WTS to get more extreme in their vilification of former Witnesses. But I'm convinced that this vilification will jar with sincere JWs who know for a fact that those of us who have left aren't the Satanic stewards of filth that the Society says we are.

As reported elsewhere on the forum, there were 12 ex-JWs at our baptism service yesterday. Yes. TWELVE.
It was quite an experience to hear about an ex-JW who had moved to another part of the country and had written down 150 names of JWs in the area of Glasgow she was originally from and had started praying for all those names last summer. Two of the people on her list were at the church yesterday, with their wives and children. One of them, along with his wife, was getting baptised.
Another couple, who have never been witnesses, told us that they began praying for the Kingdom Hall we all used to attend. They started doing this just over a year ago. Guess what? 9 of the ex-JWs who were at the service yesterday used to attend that very Kingdom Hall.
Also in attendance were ex-JWs from Falkirk and Tillicoutry, all of whom had exited the Watch Tower Society and turned to Jesus.
On a personal note, I can't remember anything quite like this in my lifetime, so many Witnesses exiting around the same time from the same Kingdom Hall. It must surely be rattling cages among the Witness community locally.
Whether all 9 of the local ex-JWs who were at church yesterday to see the baptism will become Christians remains to be seen. But the point is they were in a church!! That alone shows they've managed to untie the WTS shackles on their minds, and that makes me proud of them all.

MEMORIAL SHOCK!!!!
by african GB Member inlast year in my cong (well it's not really "my cong" as i'm just "in" for the sake of family) we had a new "partaker of the emblems".
it came as a shock because this man was only baptized in 2005.. his wife has been a dub from birth.. he was 63 when he got baptized, took "auxilliary" pioneer after 1 month...became a full-time pioneer after a year....became ms after 2years...made an elder 6 months later.....2008 he got "anointed"....we were all surprised at the amount of time he took to climb the jw corporate ladder....rumours are that he donated a car to our po when he (po) lost his job, and some other favours( this man is wealthy).... .
i'm looking forward to be "just an observer" at this year's memorial in my cong (i am thinking of partaking myself, but i sure would rather not,the "bread" is tasteless and the wine is of poor quality,...i don't wanna throw out at the ms serving the emblems)..... back to that man,...how long would it take him to become a gb member?.

Reniaa, when Paul wrote about what you call the memorial in 1 Cor 11, was he writing to just the apostles?
Quite how you can read John 6 where Jesus describes himself as the bread of life and then says " Most truly I say to YOU , Unless YOU eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, YOU have no life in yourselves" and not see that you need to eat the bread and drink the wine at the memorial to get life is quite stunning.
When Jesus offers you life, why would you allow men on earth to say, "no, that's not for you" and then look for reasons to excuse them? I'm sorry, I just don't understand it.

I was disassociated by my actions (attending church) in October 2008. Best thing I've ever done.
Yes, it can be very hard when you see the hypocrisy of the JWs still in who shun you while being far from squeaky clean themselves. Yes, it can be hard losing friends. Yes, it can be hard being described as the anti-christ.
But none of that compares with the joy and peace you experience when you're finally free from the domineering mind control - and perpetual guilt and insecurity - of an American publishing corporation.

@ reniaa - it's useful to read the context of the verses you quote. I realise that the Watch Tower Society uses 1 Cor 11 as a warning against taking the memorial emblems if one does not believe one is going to heaven. However, the context states the following;
17 But, while giving these instructions, I do not commend YOU because it is, not for the better, but for the worse that YOU meet together. 18 For first of all, when YOU come together in a congregation, I hear divisions exist among YOU ; and in some measure I believe it. 19 For there must also be sects among YOU , that the persons approved may also become manifest among YOU .
20 Therefore, when YOU come together to one place, it is not possible to eat the Lord’s evening meal . 21 For, when YOU eat [it], each one takes his own evening meal beforehand, so that one is hungry but another is intoxicated. 22 Certainly YOU do have houses for eating and drinking, do YOU not? Or do YOU despise the congregation of God and make those who have nothing ashamed? What shall I say to YOU ? Shall I commend YOU ? In this I do not commend YOU .
The problem was people turning up drunk or turning up hungry and making a glutton of themselves. These are the ones who were partaking unworthily.
Who should take of the emblems, Reniaa? Jesus has the answer;
John 6:3 5 Jesus said to them: “ I am the bread of life . He that comes to me will not get hungry at all, and he that exercises faith in me will never get thirsty at all. 36 But I have said to YOU , Y OU have even seen me and yet do not believe.
48 “ I am the bread of life .
50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven ; if anyone eats of this bread he will live forever ; and, for a fact, the bread that I shall give is my flesh in behalf of the life of the world.”
53 Accordingly Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to YOU , Unless YOU eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, YOU have no life in yourselves . 54 He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I shall resurrect him at the last day; 55 for my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and I in union with him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me forth and I live because of the Father, he also that feeds on me, even that one will live because of me. 58 T his is the bread that came down from heaven. It is not as when YOUR forefathers ate and yet died. He that feeds on this bread will live forever.”
So, Reniaa, do you fancy a shot at everlasting life? Guess what you need to do? Eat the bread of life. Jesus is the living bread and everyone eating this bread will live forever. It's not particularly complicated, is it? You eat the bread at the memorial. And if you want your sins forgiven, as I'm sure you do, you drink the wine.
Funnily enough, the idea of taking Christ's flesh repelled, offended and stumbled many of his followers; they simply would not want to eat this bread of life. So, they left off following him. Ironically, this is the portion of the Bible that the Watch Tower Society use to condemn people like me who have left off following their Organisation. Yet, I'm not offending, repelled or stumbled at the idea of eating the bread of life. In fact, I'm going to church in just over an hour to do just that. But you, Reniaa, and around 7 million practicing Jehovah's Witnesses would be horrified at the idea of eating the bread of life.
Reniaa, for your own sake, please join the dots...Why does the Organisation you obey not want you to take the Bread of Life?

WHAT DEFINES AN APOSTATE ACCORDING TO THE ELDERS?
by Hobo Ken inlisten to part 3 of the death or obedience podcast which charts the df'ing process from start to finish.. in this part the elders give a "sister" a grilling about her alleged apostasy and attemp to explain how god uses the organisation.. here is the link.. http://media.libsyn.com/media/tartanpodcast/doro_3.mp3.

@ WTWizard - you'll find that your point is exactly correct as the series continues. The follow-up visit from two elders shows that one elder has a very particular view a certain subject while the other elder has the complete opposite.

Watch out for a new WT clampdown on the ANTICHRIST . . .
by nicolaou inthe wt has for years labelled opposing former members as 'apostates'.
i don't need to elaborate on how effective this tactic is in controlling the attitudes of those still 'in' through fear.. but as ever in the cultish world of the watchtower, the identity of an enemy is redifined, focus shifts and views once patronised now snap clearly between the crosshairs.
.. for decades, one of the biggest headaches the wt faced was exposure of it's teachings as extra or non-biblical.

When I met with the elders to answer why my wife and I go to church, we were told we were the anti-christ.
