Apologies if I've come off as a stuck up east coast w*nker
No that's ok ;-) xx
this is podcast 8 in the death or obedience series.. this was recorded on christmas day 2008.. after our last visit from two local elders my wife felt she could no longer be known as a jehovah's witness and had chosen to disassociate herself in november 2008.. we had been on a family holiday and had returned to find that one of the local elders who had visited us had warned off my mother-in-law from having anything to do with my wife - her daughter.
he also made false statements about one of my children.. i decided to confront this elder at the kingdom hall.
this podcast is the recording of our conversation.. notice how he denies making such statements to my mother-in-law and falsely accuses me of teaching her beliefs contrary to jehovah's witnesses.. i ask whether it's a sin to no longer be a jehovah's witness?.

i've decided that i'm going to write about my life as a jw and how i broke free of the organisation.
i've approached a magazine with regards to doing a monthly story on my walk to freedom.
this is in no way meant as payback, but rather as a means to educate people about this faith and what it does to those trapped in.. i may be calling on some of you (if you don't mind) for clarification on doctrine as i have become a bit fuzzy as to what is what.
Nice one.

@ happpyexjw - extremely well said.

@ scotsman - good point. However, Ronnie was seriously rattled after this conversation and the 2 JCs that followed.
i'm thinking of going to one this summer to research an article i want to write.
back in my time anybody could just walk in, but some recent threads sound like that might be hard to do.
i'm also going to try to get a local paper to give me one time press credentials.
I didn't wear a convention badge for several years before I left, neither did my wife OR my kids*. We never got hassled.
*Who puts name badges on little kids in a large, open, public space? It's a pedophiles dream to have all these little children that they can call by name....
hi friends.... just went to the grocery with my husband and about ran right into a old friend of ours that i have known since we lived in a little one horse town in minnesota when i was in 2nd grade, (32 years ago!!).
i looked at her and she immediately turned her head but kept trying to peak at my husband and i two lanes away through the magazines.
i waited for her to look at me and when she finally did and had eye contact , i started to smile a friendly smile at her and she looked away quickly.
If she's angling to be be reinstated she can't be seen to be fraternising with other DFd ones. Fact.
Ninja doesn't actually look as raw and sleazy as he does in these photos.

The way I see it Ann needs to decide whether she wants to associate with her daughter or whether she wants to do what the elders say.
I should add that Anne disassociated herself, too.

I don't know all the details of the situation so I don't know how I would "handle it". I put quotes round that because it's a classic JW phrase. "Situations" need to be "handled".
Classic. I'm sure I've heard of those terms/phrases in non-JW situations. Whoops. I said "situation"!
Jehovah's Witnesses have worn that word out, and it seems to me you have not really broken free from the Witnesses' way of thinking if you need to frame the issue in those terms.
Fair enough. How's your aunt, by the way?

I'm pretty sure his wife would have gone into the KH to confront him (if I remember right, she did want to), but as she'd DAd a month before she wouldn't have gotten very far.
