Born-In here too
Left in 1980
Us "Older" folks know it was
next to impossible to get any
answers.
If the library didn't have it
If the book stores didn't stock it
We got nothing
I remember when I was little
I found a copy of an old comic book
In the back was an ad for a book
by Ayn Rand,Objectivist.
I sent away for it.
Got it in the mail
Dad saw me looking at it
You would have thought I was
Dahmer caught under the house
with the family cat
Got grounded
Confiscated all my books, magazines,
music. Lost it all
But I remembered...........
Couldn't take that away

Consequences of being a JW
by Regretful_J ini've been thinking about what its like to be born and raised as a jw and the mistakes that parents make as an almost direct result of this cult.
for one thing, the children are not allowed to think freely, and if they say or do one little thing their parents disapprove of, they are chastised and basically bullied into abandoning that thought or action.
another thing is that no matter what you do, and no matter how good your reputation is among friends, teachers, administrators, etc if you don't want to go to meetings, and don't believe in this faith, they do what they can to make you feel lower then dirt for this and will often resort to verbal abuse, and sometimes violence to force you to believe in them and conform.

All very true
Born-in here
Always carried guilt
Never enough
Only freedom was town library
....had to do homework....
Actually it was the only way I could
learn anything that wasn't WT related
Read everything I could my hands on
If I tried to have an intelligent
conversation with JW "Friends" I
would get that drooling, blank stare
like I was an adult talking in a Charlie
Brown cartoon. WaWaWaWaWa
That only worked for a couple of years
Then I had to use only the bound volumes
of Watchtower & Awake for research.
No encyclopedias at home
Made for some interesting papers
I just remembered
I won a lot of awards in school
ribbons, plaques, that sort of thing
Parents never kept them
All gone forever......Sad -

August 1980 Kingdom Ministry about Apostasy & Franz resignation
by cabasilas ini was sorting some papers tonight and came across a copy of the august 1980 km which announced the "apostasy against the organization" (a letter from the governing body) and has the notification that raymond franz was no longer a member of the governing body and bethel family.
i remember reading this just as i was making plans to disassociate myself at the same time.
this copy of the km was in some papers that belonged to my mother-in-law (who passed away several years ago).

In a number of carefully controlled trials,
scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 liter of water each day,
at the end of the year we would have absorbed
more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to
go through a purification process of boiling,
filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.
Therefore,
it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
than to drink water and be full of shit. -

Why is something, anything, too "far fetched?"
by feenx infirst off with the contents of this post i am not here to upset anyone, nor am i promoting any singular (or collective) idea, thought or belief.
there have been some recent posts on the board the last couple days regarding ufo's, government coverups, etc.
such topics always spark the debate between what can be proved, what hasn't been proved but is "realistic" and what is too "far fetched.

"My fairytale is better than yours. Your fairytale isn't good enough. It's just stupid."
Good wording
Matters not what the "group" thinks
Only matters what the "individual" thinks
We are told in scripture to not believe in anyone who
acts and does those very things that Jesus did,
but we are to believe him on his own word and prophecy.
Are we a part of the dream that the dreamer is dreaming?
Will that spaceship one day land to whisk away
all the faithful slaves/servants.
I remember an "Outerlimits" episode as a youngster.
Aliens landed and were oh so kind and helpful
They were taking people away for a better life
They had a book left to all the great minds
titled "To Serve Man"
No one could interpret the writing inside.
Finally someone did. After much of the population
had departed. Turns out the great book was a
COOKBOOK.
That little piece of science fiction really
got me thinking way back when. -
